Yanmar YM 3000
Got a YM3000. Had tranny in low range. Grabbed lever to shift to high range, nothing but slack in lever. Lever is not doing anything. Took access cover off top of transmission and shifter and shifter plate off. I can just barely see the inside end of the shaft that the range selector lever is attached to. And can see that something has broken off of the shaft  I can't see in the transmission good enough to see what broke off. If I could just somehow get the thing back in high range I would be good, rarely use low range. And.....local dealer that I bought tractor from has gone out of business. Help!

Yanmar Tractor Parts: HI-LO SHIFT LEVER _
This is what usually breaks. Reach in and move the gear with a big screw driver.

Thanks, normde2001. I had found that same pic this morning. Am heading out to try and do that very thing. And to try and figure out if the part can be replaced without splltting the tractor in half. The thought of that job is giving me the willies!

I did a little research but couldn't come up with the thread but I know someone did replace that and I think on a 2000. They had to do a little grinding on it to get it in but I think the results were successful. Your 3000 may be completely different.

Yep, I think the 3000 is indeed different. I was able to track down the previous owner of the dealership where I bought the tractor. He is still doing Yanmar repair work. I'm hauling my tractor to him Monday. Hopefully it won't be too financially painful.

I hauled it to the now closed dealership. He said his mechanic had quit last Friday, so I hauled it back home. Got the part and am in the process of trying to install it myself. Got the broken part out, but I don't think the new one is going to go in without splitting the tractor. Will know for sure after I fiddle around with it a little more tomorrow.
