Good Morning! 45˚ clear skies getting to the 60s.

Fedex is getting on Santa's bad list with three failed promised delivery dates. We are going on 8 days late now. I suspect my wood splitter must be at the end of his delivery and he is not authorized overtime. Each day at 4:59 they reschedule for the next day. I wish they would run the route backwards. My need to split pile has grown to 40 logs and the cold is heading back Sunday.

I added a bottom 4 point barbed wire to my 5-wire fence on half the front. The pigs will now get a barb in the snout as they come through on their well worn path.
I still don't have the 28 shades that were supposed to be delivered by a week ago last Friday, then promised no later than last Wednesday, the tracking still says by end of day 12/11/2013.

I suspect they are delivering the newer packages on time instead of first in first out - that way only half the packages are late.

They told me that they were packing the trucks with small packages to keep the on time percentages up. I'll remember this next time.

Fedex around here are owner operator's. I bought a drywall lift from harbor freight a couple years ago, the driver complained about the weight, and the fact that he only got paid $1.87 to deliver it!! It took a extra week, during the summer, I think he just didn't want to drive out here just for that 1 item.

Maybe they get paid a flat rate per package? lot of small packages = more money?

This area uses contract FEDEX too...at least during the Christmas season.

Fedex Ground here is a mix of the old Airborne Express owner operator and FedEx employees. All now must have the approved FedEx trucks. No more delivery in the 78 LUV trucks.

Ahh, that's the deal, only fed ex trucks this year no more u-hauls rented during the Christmas season. No wonder they are so far behind.

I misspoke a bit, no more owner operated vehicles, they still rent fill in trucks for the season. Got a small delivery at home the other day with a FedEx driver in an Enterprise truck. But they don't allow old vans and stuff for their full time operators, they have to be FedEx spec.

FedEx has the deal with the post office for standard ground delivery. They call it FedEx Quickpost, or something like that. The problem is our post office has been swamped and one of the carriers fell on the ice and hurt himself. He's out until next week and they are calling in part-timers to deliver the regular mail. That means we don't get any packages delivered from them. Instead, we just get the parcel post note in our mailbox and have to drive down to the post office to pick up the package. That's not exactly the service people expect when something is shipped FedEx.:( However, it's only a mile to our post office from our house, so my wife stops by there each morning on the way home from taking my grandson to school. It's far better than being "split" from your shipment like TxDon is. Don, I never dreamed it would be this much delay or I'd never have kidded you about it in the first place. I just hope that when it arrives, your splitter is in good shape. Often, delayed packages get tossed around so much that the packages are tattered and bags of assembly hardware are missing. Not to raise more anxiety, but the longer it's delayed, the more that possibility exists.

Good Morning. 0830, sunny, 40* with 94% humidity. Forecast high of 65*. We had a nice white frost with ice in the water bowls this morning, but the frost is gone and the ice is melting.

Margie and I have been married 23 years today. Wooo! I have to work tonight, so she is taking off tomorrow so we can go out to eat.
