BX 25 all day long.

Welcome to TBN, and you have a great sense of humor, and know how to post. Your first one proves that. Yep BX-25 would be my vote too of the ones you mentioned. I have a much larger tractor, but I have seen the time I thought it would be nice to have the little BX with backhoe for once in a while digging.. I don't have much dirt here, so that is why I don't have one (well there is the money too). Like was said, if you don't like it, you can get most of your money back.. I wouldn't put a dime in the lawn ornament, but someone will want it and put the time in it to fix it.

Don't overlook a used BX24 or BX23. As IslandTractor said, they really don't lose much value after a couple of years. So if you can find a gently used one at a reasonable price, you can buy it and probably not lose any money when you sell it. It's sorta like a free (or really cheap) rental.

Exactly. Other than tying money up for a while there is very little net cost to owning a good condition used BX23/24/25 especially if bought from a private source rather than a dealer. I've tracked the used prices of the 23/24 version for over eight years hoping to find a bargain but in that timeframe the prices really haven't budged.

First, if you do buy used avoid the BX24. 2nd, sell the old tractor to someone that wants it.
I've owned most of the Bs and most of the BXs and one L3240HST. I recently sold my BX25 and currently have a B2620 FEL BH. I'd rather have a BX25, my favorite Kubota. The B has higher ground clearance, weighs a bit more, bit bigger FEL, will dig a bit deeper and will dig thru tougher stuff a bit quicker than the BX25. The BX25 is a bit more maneuverable. The BX25 is .....well, I never tried to talk my self out of going out and moving a tree, bush, hole, help a neighbor dig a hole, move something like I do with ALL of the bigger tractors. It was MORE FUN and MORE MANUVERABLE than ANY of the others. Well, looks like I've almost talked myself in to trading my B2620 FEL BH with under 50 hours back to Barlows for that BX25 that he has sitting beside his front door.
With well kept tractor prices up near new prices and with new tractors having 0 down 0% for 60 months and full factory warranty, well that seems obvious answer to me but I like to have as much stuff as I can for my monthly income which I don't save for when I get old, I'm already old.
Now if I can just not go back to Barlows until next spring.:D

I would go for the BX 25, and then get a FEL bucket expander from BXpanded .com.

Then, get a Claw for the backhoe arm, because digging out tree stumps is the worst job you can do with the backhoe, and it takes forever unless you have a giant machine. The Claw, however, cuts roots very nicely and thus speeds up the task considerably.

The reason for the bucket expander is that it doubles the heaped capacity of the front end loader, and the BX 25 can generally lift a lot more dirt etc. than the stock bucket has room for. This is particularly useful in the winter, when you want to move piles of snow.

I have the BX 25, and I love it. It is small enough to get around in tight spaces, is only 4 feet wide, and thus takes a little room in the garage, and it seems to have a lot of power for a small tractor.

Finally, if you get the new BX 25D, you can get a quick attach for the front end loader, which is a big deal. I wish I had one, so I could quickly attach forks directly to the front end loader arms.

Good luck with your purchase, and welcome to TBN!

I've seen 3300's with factory backhoes, so it's obviously possible. Also, don't overlook the B2620/2920 models, which fit neatly down the middle. If doing anything that needs weight/bulk/beef, the BX will start to struggle. I'd want something a little bigger if you will be maintaining a 1/4 mile driveway with a box blade or similar.

Sorry for the misfortunes and constraints you find yourself in Rod.
I was thinking about the value added to the tractor you already own because it's obviously going to be worth more as a working unit, I just didn't realize the obstacles you're facing.
Hope you won't take too much of a beating on it.
As to the machines you're interested in I'd opt for the L series for the 'short' term and after getting the estate squared away think about trading for the smaller BX series.
Hope things work out for ya.

I also have a rear box blade for my BX25 and it works great maintaining my 800 ft. Driveway, plus I am using it to widen a 1/4 mile bush path into a driveway. Don't underestimate the power and strength of the BX25 - it is much tougher than the other BX's and will surprise you. (See also the TBN reviews of the BX25.)

I would lean to the BX, great machine. I have BX2200 and and Kioti 45. BX is tough as nails just takes longer to get job done. I would not be concerned about maintaining 1/4 mile of driveway with BX. I just had a friend pick up a nice BX 2200 FEL and Backhoe for less than 10 K.
