Not the point...not even close.
My personal opinion on gays is pretty neutral...no strong feelings one way or the other (with one exception, explained below*).
Nor am I a religious man...

However, Mr. Robertson expressed his thoughts based upon his beliefs...both 1st Amendment rights. GLAAD is also entitled to express their opinion...but theirs' got personal rather then more generic. Mr. Robertson probably could have a case against them, if he so desired...doubt if he does though.
A&E's error (and I hope they pay for this error) is they took sides rather then remaining neutral. Even worse, A&E sided against civil rights...

* My one strong belief is that gays should not serve aboard Navy vessels.
Two reasons:
1) Personnel sleep in very close proximity on a ship. Persons who do have strong feelings about homosexuality can be very uncomfortable due to this. And, there is no way to segregate homosexual berthing spaces...just not enough room on a warship.
2) ALL personnel on a ship are a "walking blood bank". Like it or not, HIV/AIDS is more prevalent in the male homosexual community. The potential of transmitting HIV/AIDS through blood transfusions, and the limited number of blood donors, increases the risk of transmissions. It's bad enough that Navy personnel are at risk from an enemy...it's unacceptable that they should be at risk from their shipmates too.

Nothing homophobic about either of those reasons...they're facts of life. If you never served aboard a Navy vessel for an extended period, you have no right to criticize my opinion...
Roy, you just summed up two very good reasons why, when my enlistment was up, I ran as fast as I could.

It might have possibly gone from bad to worse for DD. There appears to be some more quotes from Richard on his racial views. Not outright racist, but appearing insensitive. NAACP is wound up and it could be a long afternoon.

Got a link?

BTW, it doesn't take much for the NAACP to get it's panties in a wad...

Now I really needed all this quackin at this point in my life, good Lord is people so dang bored and lacking skills to do something that they get all wrapped up in some silly TV show?
I put my OLDEST sister on speakerphone this morning made breakfast and ate it while she was going off on this A&E place throwing some fellow from a silly show that made fun of swampers on cable. Danged if I understood much of what she was ratchetjawing about being that I don't spend a whole lot of time watching TV.

Truth to tell, I don't much care about what other people do unless it directly effects me or mine. I figure from what I see the world is well along the road to ****, and I'm glad I'm old.

Now that Hannity fellow is on the radio running his yap and giving out the number to call some girl at the TV network supposed to be an executive and her phone sort of got all plugged up. I sure ain't calling. Maybe I'll head over to snowbunny land and see if one of the girls has that quackin show on a CD so I know what everybody is talking about. Least I won't have to pay to watch some dang advertisement trying to sell me a pill that mght give me the backdoor trotts or make my eyeballs go crookid as a side effect while it cures up my hickups.

(removed) is trying to get his own reality tv show. Seems like he is a safer bet than DD, except for the "helping the lady folks out" where it was 5 girls and (removed)... That'l get womens right in an uproar...

I'm not a fan of the show...and I'm not a religious man.
That said, I abhor A&E network's bigotry against Phil Robertson for speaking his piece...that's a 1st Amendment right.
GLAAD's comments expose their bigotry as well.

If you want to express your displeasure with A&E's decision, here's their contact information:
aefeedback@aenetworks.com

Just to be clear, this has nothing to do with the first amendment. A private company decided they did not want to be associated with someone who said something the company does not want to be associated with. It's well within their rights to fire the dude.

What are you some sort of commie who thinks he can control what sort of business decisions a private company can make?

If A & E thinks disappointing redneck fans is less of a problem than alienating that gay community then they made the correct business decision. Was Nike wrong in dropping Tiger Woods when he embarrassed them?

Media stars know full well they cannot cross certain lines if they want to stay in the publicity business. I doubt the duck guy was dumb enough to not appreciate the risk he was taking when he exercised his first amendment right.
