Are tractors covered under the lemon law? If so, that could be an option if the turbo does not correct the problem.

I'm someone that has been following this thread all along but hasn't commented. Fred, the way this thread started, I can see why some people jumped on you about adding a turbo. After seeing some of the latter posts, its obvious you have some fabrication skills much beyond most members, maybe even equal with 4-shorts. I wish I had that skill and equipment and time available. Good luck on the rest of the turbo install and looking forward to the final results.

Just for reference, here is a turbo mounted on a 3 cyl Kubota

Lemon law covers tractors here as long as it was bought non-commercial.
Yes I made some mad the way I posted, maybe I should have started the thread in the Deere forum.
Either way the turbo goes on and thanks for the help everyone.

Obviously Big Krank you are a wealth of information about Kubota engines. Can you comment on the size of the banjo bolt orifice for the turbo oiling? Also have you seen Kubota blocks that have piston cooling jets installed or oiling holes in the connecting rod big end to cool the pistons?
How about torque/power of some of your engine builds?

Thank-You! Fred

Can't remember hole size. No jets, smaller pistons such as in littler Kubotas get rid of heat faster than big pistons which should have cooling jets.

Last 68 cube 3 cyl had over 80 hp (25 stock), center cylinder got pretty hot, 1700 degree normal exhaust temp but only for short runs. Up to 60# boost, tryed to limit to 30-45. Those pics don't show the more extensive water/alcohol injection system added later either as well as wastegate system mods.

I have known direct injected 75 cube Yanmars (not stock obviously) make 200hp on dyno but they like breaking in half between cylinders.

I assume you will only run 5-10# and just want altitude compensation or similar ( I don't know how high Hooterville is). I don't see much of an issue.

Bigkrank, that turbo looks as big as the one off my Dodge PU with a Cummins. Pretty cool!

Yes cool and thanks.
I ALMOST used a VNT15 off a 2002 TDI but couldn't figure out a good simple way to control the variable vanes without a major mess of vacuum lines, a vacuum pump and ECM to control the vanes. I stuck with super simple. The VW turbo is in full boost (about 2000 mb) by 1800 RPM on a 1.9 liter engine so I figured on a 2 liter it would come on a tad sooner. The good thing about a VNT turbo is you can close the vanes and have it act as an engine brake.

Have to make this AN line for the oil supply. I got blood running down my hand after 3 tries, guess I should have bought the tools.

Back to it, Fred

Actually out of 8 turbos that we tried that was the smallest one, but it had a twin scroll exhaust wheel and you could launch it less than half open then stomp it and get instant boost.

Got the feed line made tonight, PITA. Bloody fingers and had to make a tool to get the braided line to start into the nut. I will replace this line once I source the hard line and banjo fittings.

Enough room under the hood for a muffler of some type. Might be a glasspack from a VW bug not sure yet :)

Fred

Should smell like a car show in the Spring once I fire it up and get all that fresh paint burned off.
