You need a bigger hammer

Try a pickel fork tool. That well move a enough to get something behind it, like spacers and the pickel fork again.

It's out! A friend brought over some gear pullers and other tools. One of his pullers was a multi-part affair that did the trick. Walked it the last 1/2" and it dropped in our hands. I'll figure out what needs to be done to clean up both the pin and the socket in the arm another day. Happy to have it apart though.

I was going to try the pipe and washer routine, but hadn't found a suitable-sized washer before my friend came over, so that approach didn't get tried.

Pipe puller.jpgGlad you got it out ...you might "mike" it to see if it was oversize.

I liked the pipe washer idea so much I tried to illustrate it, attached

Great illustration, Joe. It should be made a "sticky" somewhere here. It would have worked great. It would be a very safe way to apply extreme force.

don't know how to "sticky", but thnx for the compliment...incidentally, forgot to mention/illustrate the fact that a rod through the hole in the pin could be helpful in keeping the pin from turning ...although, if it gets to turning, it probably will then come free by conventional (big hammer) methods

Not necessarily, remember the ball can also rotate in the lift arm.

I also agree- your illustration is very helpful

Ahhhh...of course ...anyway, bar through hole in pin works in that case, too.
