Did it come with incandescent bulbs?

No, but specifically states use incandescent or CFL, and specifically states do not use LED. Fixture came with garage door opener, uses two 100W max.

Maybe they've had customer complaints because RFI from the LED's - mounted right on the receiver - blocked the signal from the remote.

Oww.. that would be bad..I hadn't thought of that. The only other thing I thought of is that garage door openers produce a lot of vibration, and maybe they were worried about damaging the "guts" of the power supply in each LED bulb?

Last I heard, CFL's weren't supposed to be in cans. We did have 2 in the cans on our ceiling fan lights that got hot. Bases were brown & burned looking when I pulled them out after they quit--that's when I heard I wasn't supposed to put them there.

Regardless of where I put CFL's I experienced a high failure rate when I started using them. Eventually I got rid of all of them, went back to 130 volt incandescents.

Was at Lowes one day and someone dropped & broke a 48 inch fluorescent tube. No one treated it like it was a big deal, they just swept up the glass & went on with their work.

For cans then, what would most people use? I have can lights in the kitchen.

There must be some... I bought my brother a case of $18 dimable floods for his family room can fixtures... I asked why he had to use the most expensive and he said they were rated for ceiling can fixtures and he wanted to be able to dim them.

No idea what they would cost today.

This is the cfl bulb type recommended for cans:

Recessed Cans
Indoor reflector light bulbs work best in recessed cans because they are specially designed to direct the light out of the fixture and to withstand the heat buildup that occurs in these fixtures.

The ENERGY STAR Choose A Light Guide : ENERGY STAR

I've never heard to not use cfl's in cans. The cans should be Insulation Contact (IC) rated is what I have heard.

I put these 100W equivalent bulbs in the garage and I need a flashlight to see.

if any business had invented this product with mercury in it the Feds would have sued them back to the stone age.
When you expect instant full output CFLs come up short. But if used several minutes or longer they compare quite well at 1/4 the power. I use about 600W of CFLs to well light my 1500sqft basement.

They don't last as long as a disposable lighter
I find you need to change the batts to US alkalines right away. Batts included will corrode it up quick.

I bought LED from Costco and use them...

The only complaint is they take awhile to come up to full brightness...

City just changed out all the street lights... 420,000 people live here and they said it is very cost effective.

We also pay as much as 32 cents per Kw

This is the 4th time in my lifetime they have changed out the lamps...

It went from very bright to not so bright and then to energy saver "Orange" and now to LED.

The light pattern is very different... mostly the light is focused along the street and not people's windows.

The exception is the pole at the end of the court... it illuminates both the yards to the left and right like never before.
:confused2: LEDs brighten faster than incandescents.
