McDonalds.....Don't Eat the Food!

The business cycle has come full circle back to the days of the robber barons..... Andrew Carnegie building "free" libraries at the end of his life to assuage his guilty conscience for slave wages he paid at his steel mills. John D. Rockefeller handing out dimes to orhpaned children in the streets of New York City for the same reason.

Only Henry Ford had the audacity to pay his workers a living wage so "they could afford to buy the products they made". He seemed to be the only one of the barons that got the bigger picture of life. Then he got too stubborn to evolve his vehicles fast enough & almost went out of business.

The hoarding of wealth is a serious & negative mental issue for these barons that decreases the quality of life for millions. Government-backed global competition has added to the burden. It seems we are powerless to fight, but at least there are sparks of recognition such as the "Occupy" movement, and "Pay a Living Wage" movement. Hopefully it is the start of larger things.

I fear a return to the bloody, anarchist days of the 20's & 30's for the same causes.

I make my living selling eggs. You should have to pay $30/carton so I don't have to get another job.

The average pay for a McDonald's crew member is said to be ~ $8/hour.
Total labor, not just the crew members, is 25.3% of store costs. (Store revenue / payroll and benefits)

All else being equal, and applying increases to all store labor:
$9/hour is an increase of 12.5% in labor costs, raising labor to 28.5% of store costs.
$12/hour is an increase of 50% in labor costs, raising labor to 38% of store costs.
$15/hour is an increase of 87.5% in labor costs, raising labor to 47.4% of store costs.

For a $5 meal at $8/hour the labor component of revenue is $1.27
For a $5 meal at $9/hour the labor component of revenue is $1.43
For a $5 meal at $12/hour the labor component of revenue is $1.90
For a $5 meal at $15/hour the labor component of revenue is $2.37

If my back of the envelope math and logic are reasonably correct (always iffy ), raising wages from $8 to $15 per hour costs a customer $1.10 on a $5 order, all else remaining equal.

As soon as they raise the minimum wage at Rotten Ronnies they will be able to afford to pay you $30.00 a carton.
I would.....but I like to hoard my money to myself too, LOL.

Tim Hortons here in Ontario pays $18/hour after 10 years. They start at $15-$16 in Alberta. McDonalds can afford to pay more, they are cheap and choose not too! Hence why i refuse to support the likes of Rotten Ron's and chinamart!

Do you have a goose that lays golden eggs? If so, you can do better than $30

The single billion air feels deprived to the point of feeling that they can't afford to survive,- much like a person who actually can't afford to buy food...
