I will get picks of those things but my digital camera bit the dust and I don't want to use my Canon T4i in the cold dirty barn.
So I should have my ruggedized snap shooter tomorrow. Exhaust manifolds are steel by Don Knasel along with an extended engine mount that links the tranny to the adapter plate to front axle mounting plate.
The motor mounts to the engine mount with standard motor mounts and to the adapter plate that bolts to the tranny. The only problem I have with the manifold is that the steel is so thick that there is little clearance for a wrench or socket. I had to grind down a sacrificial 9/16" 1/4" drive to make a really thin wall socket. That worked for all but one of the bolts. Had to use an open end the best I could on that one. I am new to all this so I hope I am making sense.

?

Yeah those manifolds got my attention. Your description makes perfect sense to me. What are you planning for an air cleaner?

Air cleaner is a low profile polished aluminum with a paper filter.

Headers Pictures - I think cap screws with allen heads would be easier to install because there is not enough room for a socket and I had to jimmy around with an open end on a couple of the bolts.

The air cleaner looks like it'll fit nicely under the "hood". Black cap screws would like nice in the manifolds too. Is the any plan for muffling the exhaust or are you sticking with straight pipe?

As a fan of Ford Tractors and the 302 engine, I wanna drive that thing!

Since we will starting this up inside the barn, un-muffled would probably cause hearing loss so we are "Hushpower"-ing it by Flowmaster. This will get installed Saturday. Man, that Aluminum exhaust paint takes for ever to dry and now my hands are all silvery from picking them up for the photos. It has been 22 hours, so much for quick drying. My friend at the local Midas bent the pipe for us.

That should sound sweet. What did the donor engine come out of?

1983 Mercury Marquis w/only 19K on it. I heard it run before we pulled.

That was a rare find. I remember the pics of the bottom with pan off and the oil pickup screen. It should be happier now in its new home.

Yep, and best of all, I thought $500 was a very fair price. Usually you don't get to hear them running. Hope it starts up tomorrow!

Working on my 8N Awesome Henry 302 V8 conversion. Still have not got the motor running.

Plan was to start it today but we ran into what we thought might be a ringgear problem even though Don at Awesome Henry says this has never caused a problem and all his flywheels are built this way.

Starter howls - the awesome henry ringgear has the almost square cut towards the starter drive gear.
Shouldn't the beveled side of the ringgear face the starter drive gear?
Could that be the source of the howl?

This happens whether the motor is bolted to the tranny or not so the eliminates the pilot bearing.
Happens with old and new starter. Starters run quiet off the tractor.
No bolts are hitting anything and motor turns freely by hand with the plugs pulled.

Problem Solved!!!

I have the 164 tooth manual flywheel with the auto old style starter and I just figured out the problem. The kit included a 3/8" spacer to use the auto starter on the manual flywheel. Turns out I needed a 5/8" spacer. I tested my theory with a couple of washers and the howling went away. The inside of the bendix was touching the front of the flywheel when it spun out in the active mode. Nothing that 6 hours of debugging, disassembly, reassembly, repeat 5 times couldn't solve.
Turns out the cut of the ringgear teeth was not the issue.

Sweet! Overcoming some frustration adds to the feeling of accomplishment. Looking forward to seeing some video of it moving.

to bad the kit didn't have that info!

It's a great feeling of satisfaction, when you can figure stuff like that out.... Genius, pure genius........

Awesome Henry V8 302 conversion Starter Problem and fix
No genius here, some say I am just very persistent!!
Here are the pix of the problem and the fix.
StarterSwirl.jpg StarterSpacer.jpg

Note: I also enlarged the top mounting hole by 1/16" on the starter itself as the starter drive gear was awfully tight to the ring gear. This allowed me to pivot the starter just a smidgeon away from the ring gear.

Thanks for all the support and assistance.
Merry Christmas to everyone and to all an "N" night

Oh Oh, can't get spark out of Mallory 8555101C billet distributor and it did not come with a wiring diagram, it is meant for a car connector. Anyone got any knowledge of these?

Does it have an internal coil... You may need an external coil.... and resistor... Now you know all I know..... almost nothing...

It does have an internal coil. There are three wires coming out of the distributor, brown, black & red. These go to a connector block under the built in coil. There are 5 terminals under the connector block. We are trying to figure out what goes where? We think black out of distributor goes to ground, not sure about rest. Couldn't find any good diagrams at mallory or google.

I couldn't find ANY diagrams or schematics... Are there any symbols where the wires enter the housing...
