This thread has become very frustrating to me on a personal basis.
Firstly, the time I have devoted to controverting the unending stream of pseudo-scientific theories, hypotheses, conjectures, etc. proffered here has resulted in my neglect of my own scientific research program -- the determination of the air speed velocities of swallow species indigenous to the Southeastern US.
Secondly, the failure of Bob to provide us with additional data has prevented me from conducting a search for evidence of time travel. If Bob would inform us of the date and time of the first appearance of the pallet formations, I could follow the methods of Nemiroff and Wilson (http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1312/1312.7128.pdf) in searching for a prescient mention of those formations.

Maybe Bob placed the pallets in the fields and maybe he is on a cross country trip right now with a truckload of pallets furthering the mystery. As you sleep tonight, he may be placing pallets in your field.
