Pallets in fields

I am having second thoughts. I may have been too hasty in accepting the views of the "Alarmist Alienists."

How do know that they do not come in peace? Recent posts have enumerated some of the innumerable benefits that pallets bring to mankind.

In the end, we may owe a debt of gratitude to Bob for bringing our attention to the possibility of "Altruistic Aliens."

I plead guilty, but plead for mercy. I have been monitoring this thread 24/7 since the beginning of the year in anticipation of Bob living up to his promise. Sleep deprivation has caught up with me. My sincerest apology.

What is the "The Single Most Important Object in the Global Economy"?

You guessed it -- the pallet.

Earlier this spring, the Washington Conservation Corps faced a sudden influx of beach debris on the state's southwestern shore. Time and tide were beginning to deposit the aftereffects of Japan's March 11, 2011, tsunami. One of the myriad objects retrieved was a plastic pallet, scuffed and swimming-pool green, bearing the words: ?9-4 (salt) (return required), and, below that, Japan salt service.

A year earlier, Dubai's police made the region's largest narcotics bust when they intercepted a container, carried on a Liberian registered-ship, that had originated from Pakistan and transited through what Ethan Zuckerman has called the ley lines of globalization, that constellation of dusty, never-touristed entrepots like Oman's Salalah Port or Nigeria's Tin Can Island Port. Acting on an informant's tip, police searched the container's cargo --heavy bags of iron filings -- to no avail. Only after removing every bag did police decide to check the pallets on which the bags had rested. Inside each was a hollowed-out section holding 500 to 700 grams of heroin.

The pallet, that humble construction of wood joists and planks (or, less typically, plastic or metal ones) upon which most every object in the world, at some time or another, is carried. Pallets move the world, says Mark White, an emeritus professor at Virginia Tech and director of the William H. Sardo Jr. Pallet & Container Research Laboratory and the Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design. And, as the above stories illustrate, the world moves pallets, often in mysterious ways.

I was out and about today and came up on a field of pallets stacked 10 high every 50'. Now what's up with that! Must of been 75 stacks of these things. I think a change is a coming.

That is very intriguing. I just went out to run an errand. There was a sign saying 'free pallets' in a parking lot, I followed it in case there were any new clues. There were stacks of pallets 10 high and probably 20 of them in middle of a random parking lot. No idea where they came from or why they are there. None were in the inverted 'V' formation, which I assumes means they are not 'active'.

To my Fellow Explorers of the Unknown, I propose a new solution. It is, of course, somewhat as convoluted as this mystery itself, so bear with me please.

In what way would pallet formations randomly appearing across the land make sense? In no way, of course. We have been pursuing a red herring! Gentlemen, I am convinced there must be some other answer that has escaped our scrutiny.

I decided the key to the solution lies within the etymology of the word "pallet."

There is a homonym for "pallet" that we have not yet considered. A word harking back to Roman Times: palatine. "A palatine or palatinus (in Latin; plural palatini; cf. derivative spellings below) is a high-level official attached to imperial or royal courts in Europe since Roman times." In later times: "The word paladin, referring to one of the legendary Twelve Peers of Charlemagne in the Matter of France, is also related." Palatine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And so, we arrive at the word "paladin." Why is this significant you ask? Think about Have Gun will Travel my friends! Who traveled? Paladin!. Our galactic neighbors, the Aliens, received and were able to translate the TV signals, long ago. When it became time to prepare earth for their coming, they wanted Paladins placed here as their royal court representatives. Strong and true men with guns, willing to travel--just like Paladin on TV.

Unfortunately for the Aliens, there was some confusion between the Old Latin "palatine", "paladin", and the modern word "pallet." Enter Bob, the Alien mole. Perhaps Bob's Alien contact spoke with a listhp. Perhaps it was sun spot distortion of the signal burst carrying Bob's instructions. Perhaps the NSA intercepted the message and changed it to thwart the Aliens.

In any case, Bob is missing. Bob is from New Jersey, naturally Bob is willing to travel far away. Pallets are randomly appearing here and there many states distant from Bob's home. Ipso facto, Bob is placing those pallets that we are discovering daily. The Aliens believe Bob is positioning Paladins in preparation for their arrival. Ha Ha Ha, the Aliens did not factor in our human predilection to err. I'm afraid the joke will be on them upon their arrival. Hopefully, the Aliens are in possession of a reasonable sense of humor. :p

That my friends, is the solution to the pallet mystery.

I think it's more to do with Jimmy, and the teamsters. How do pallets travel around this country? The mystery deepens.....

Don't know if this is the best place to ask this, but couldn't find a better place.

I have noticed over the past few years that the local farm fields get populated with a pair of pallets leaned up against each other to form a inverted V shape. they are always out near the middle of the field, in a line, and about 500 to 700 feet apart.

Now during the Spring and Summer they are nowhere to be seen, and in late Fall they are out there again. As far as I know (not having been out in the middle of these fields) from driving by every day there is nothing out there that needs protection such as a irrigation pipe, so I can not figure out what purpose they serve. No one is out in those fields over the winter to do damage to anything except maybe some one riding their snowmobile if we get measurable snow which is not too common here.

Could someone explain the reason for these? I see them on more than one farm throughout our county.

That my friends, is the solution to the pallet mystery.
So, taking the original post and your post we must conclude this:
1. Pallets are landing markers and are only seen in the fall until sometime in winter when they disappear.
2. Bob the Alien knows his home planet has a prime launching time when craft can escape his sun's gravity.
3. Bob the Alien knows the approximate travel time from his world to this strange planet.
4. That travel time puts arrival time in our fall to winter time.
5. When they don't arrive Bob the Alien removes the pallets as the landing signals are no longer needed.
