I have the 35 ton that TSC sells, have owned it for maybe 5 seasons now, and have maybe 200 hours on it with perhaps 100 cords of wood split.............zero problems.............ZERO.........Always starts on the second or third pull.....Always shut off the fuel and let it run dry....

NOT bragging just saying how dependable this particular model should be for YOU...........

How long since you bought this piece of equipment??????.....My TSC is really good about standing behind what they sell me. Have you tried talking to them about the situation as it has been happening since new?..........
Hope it is carb related; but for me I would try the warranty situation first, yes the inline filter and shut-off for sure and a carb rebuild at the worst. After that..............Let's see after you have done the above............God bless...........Dennis

yes spoke with TSC this morning still under warranty but they do not cover carburetor problems. Small engine repair shop that handles repairs for TSC feels confident it maybe a faulty needle in the float or needs new carb or rebuild. 100 to $125 plus I have to get it into town. Thanks for all the replies.

I just got off the phone with the TSC here in Calhoun, Ga about carb problems and if they stand by repairs. They informed me that they send out their engine stuff to the local B&S repair guy here. If it is under warranty that B&S picks it up and if there is a problem with that some way, that end up taking care of it.........
Sorry YOU are getting the run around; but at least you will get the durn thing fixed and running.........LET US KNOW please........

Oh.......I took delivery today of a 4-way splitter that replaces the original........Made by Speeco, heavy forged steel, comes with a two way like the original and then the 4 way. What it is, is a new end, forged and then the "wedges" , 4 way or 2 way, slip over this new end........We shall see; but the thing weighs 75 pounds and looks HEAVY DUTY...........We shall see..........God bless Bud.........Dennis

picked up the splitter yesterday. the shop cleaned the carb and put a shut off valve in the line. I am going to get some good fuel stabilizer to keep in the fuel cans for the mower and the splitter. Thanks for all the replies.

Another helpful tip, Stabilazer only last 30 days so you need to put more in after 30 days, B12 not good in fuel as it causes orings to swell twice there size

Sam, I'm not sure I agree with your comment on Sta-Bil stabilizer only good for thirty days or that B12 will swell orings. First, I've never seen anything published on either matter and I have three personal friends and a family member who have autio repair facilities for more that 25 years and they have never questioned my life long usage of either and both products. You could easily be right. I just don't believe so considering my 50 plus years using products such as these on a regular basis.

I usually keep a few cans of gasoline in reserve during winter months just in case I need to run the generator. Once spring arrives, I use it up in mowers, tillers, trimmers, etc. While I don't have any long term storage, I have used gasoline that was stored (with Stabil) from November through April/May - no problems whatsoever. I always pour a little out into a glass container and check it, just in case, but the stored gasoline looks as good as it did the day I treated it. This new gasoline will turn dark and get a different smell if it's stored a week without a stabilizer

This was the first year the B&S motor on my 6 year old 35 ton splitter from TSC failed to start. Did not use it last year and did not drain fuel the year before. Drained old gas filled with new but still no start. Wife dropped it off at a small engine repair shop on her way to work and picked it up on her way home. Repairman said varnish from old ethanol gas was the problem. Charged us $35 for fixing.

At only $35, you found a decent deal, I think most people around here would charge at least that much to diagnose a problem, then more to fix it!
This ethanol gas is terrible on small 4 cycle engines, worse on 2 cycle air cooled and almost death on 2cycle water cooled. I had so many fuel problems with my 2 cycle outboard that I finally just traded it in on a new four cycle.

But since it's not going away, our best bet is shutoff valves, stabilizer and changing our shut down habits. Like I've posted already, now when I'm done with the implement, I shut the fuel off and let the engine starve itself. Haven't had any carb problems since I started doing that.

Every marina and airport sells non-ethanol gasoline. If you are going to run ethanol, an old fashioned sediment bowl is a good idea.
