JD 5083 or T4.75

I am looking to purchase a new tractor this year and I am not sure which way to go. I've read reviews, looked tractors and would love input from actual owners.

I will be mowing, haying, feeding cattle, maybe planting some 15-20 acre fields (dove shoots, hay, etc?. FEL will be necessary as well as future attachments (bucket, grapple, hay spear, etc?

They dont make the JD 83e anymore. The 85e took its place. My personal opinion, the JD is a lot more tractor. Weights more, lifts more, better hydrulics. If you like NH's look at LS tractors.

Thanks for the advice! I don't doubt your comment about the 5083e… but I have seen them around on lots.

What all do you have on your 85 and what do you do with it routinely?

I think 12 was the last year of the 83e. The 85e has the tier 4 emmissions. They changed a few other things also. I ordered mine in dec. and it should be here first week or two of febuary. I have 120 acre farm and will be doing mostly food plots, maintaining native grasses and eventually farming 40 acres of it. You can check out my thread in the JD forum for all the options I got. Talked to a lot of people with newer 83 and 85m, most everybody I talked was happy with their purchase.

From what I understand of LS they make some of the NH tractors. Looks like they are very similar machines. If memory serves me correct there also cheaper.

What size mower and hay equipment,will you be using? The NH 4.85 will be closer to the 5083/5085. I run a 5083 for a friend feeding cows,i haven't spent any time on a 4.75 besides the dealer lot,has a nice cab. I do like the changes made on the 5085.

While LS and NH have a lot of connections, LS doesn't make the T4.xx series for NH. The Powerstar T4.xx are made in Turkey by Turk Traktor, using a Fiat engine, which makes sense now that Fiat owns CNH. I'm sure it's part of their cooperative agreements, but the very similar LS P-series machines also use the same Fiat engines. It appears that LS actually buys some of their larger machines from CNH, and then sells them outside the U.S.

$50K gets you a LOT of machine in an LS P series...85hp at the PTO, over 6K on the 3pt, and 3,500lbs on the FEL....I swear my dealer posts this to make me drool! New LS 7040CPS tractor loader, 97hp

GmanBart explained it well. LS does make the NH compacts but nothing to do with the utility size and bigger.
