New Ford F150

I think you made the right call. With the extra price of diesel, the DEF fluid use, and the up charge for the D-Max and Allison, I would have went w the gas burner also. In retrospect, a 14 2500 LTZ D-Max would cost me MORE than I gave for my 06 4500.

The real reason I didn't buy it was the parking garage thing..I knew about the EPA downsides. If I was certain I could park in our open lot every day without a call to downtown, I'd have bought it anyway...It was that nice.

I have to say I'm not impressed by the ford V10. I have a 2011 450 box truck 4x4 with the V10 it gets 8mpg empty and 7 loaded. It's underpowered loosing speed in passing gear going up hills in the interstate. It's not had any problems so far and last I checked around 30,000 miles on it. Hopefully it's dependable. Multiple dad had a motor home with the V10 not sure what year but was even less impressed with it than my box truck.

problem is what other choice do we have other than diesel?. My 6.0 suburban gets 11 mpg.
loosing speed on hills is a problem with gas motorhomes, and I suppose trucks in general,
and why folk buy diesel pushers and diesels in general. For usually a great deal more money.
When my warranty is out, on goes the Banks turbo.
My motorhome is only 18K gvw, probably close to your box truck.

We sold our 99 class A motorhome with v10 and banks system last year. We had 3 trips to Texas, averaged about 7.5 driving around 60 pulling our car with plenty of power it was flawless.

My old Co pilot had 2 different V10 Ford Motor Homes. Only issue with either was tires. He used it infrequently and they seemed to be the weak point. 8 mpg empty and 6 pulling a 21' ski boat. He has now settled on a ultra light camper and a Dodge Durango.

They are nice. The ride of the HD's are amazing when we went to the box frame. I'm super interested in the small diesel option Canyon/ Colorado. I love to go off-roading and having the ability to tow 6700lbs makes it even more appealing (my Wrangler is only 3500lbs). I'm already thinking lift kit, off road bumpers, 35's, KC lights, etc.... With the lifestyle change from acreage, ponds, and tractors to a 1/2 acre lot and 4800+ Square ft house, I find a lot of spare time to off-road the Jeep, go to the gun range (went shooting today), and take fishing trips ( had an awesome trout fishing trip in the Ozarks 2 weeks ago). My TV time has doubled. I'm starting to adjust. I think the new GM mid-size crew cab 4x4 will fit my needs to a T. If I need more room or towing power the 13 Suburban will do just fine. Once your wife drives a 15 Yukon, I think her Hummer will be easier to let go of. Can't peel my wife out of the Burb. LOL,

Your right about the jeep being low on the tow rating. Never understood why they didn't put at least the 4.7 liter v8 in it. The smaller Dakota I had towed 7000 lbs. with that engine. I would own an unlimited like yours in a heart beat if they upped that rating. Who wouldn't want a wrangler sitting at the campground?

Off-roading suspension is much different than towing suspension... hard to have both. IIRC, both the Powerwagon and raptor have deceased tow ratings. Not to mention the short wheelbase on the wrangler wouldn't be a treat to tow with.

Ok, 116 inch wheelbase on the unlimited isn't that short and make one with a road suspension which is where 90 percent of them spend 100 percent of their time. The Wrangler unlimited is not very well suited for off road anyway and most are sold to many demographics who like the Wrangler but not off-roading. Too many wishes? Or have another manufacturer make something to compete with it.

I think the Raptor can tow around 8000 lbs.

Super cab raptor can tow 6,000 payload 980lbs max.

Super crew raptor 8,000 lbs and payload 1,180lbs max

Just So people know since it was mentioned the 2013 power Wagon like mine is rated

Payload 2,398 lbs max towing 13,400 lbs

Wasn't thinking about the unlimited.... I agree, it took a lot of the wrangler's off roading advantage away.

Not saying that's low, but isn't it still less than a similarly configured 2500 Hemi?
