Non-Lethal pistols to use against "stray" dogs

Having experienced an unprovoked attack from a female pit bull that managed to break out the patio sliding door almost three blocks away; I wish I would have had bear spray.

I resorted to the only option I had; a buck knife. It worked though my two dogs were injured to the point of laying out $2300.00 in vet bills.

During the melee I squeezed the release and the knife folded on my index finger so I ended up w/ stitches too.

Naturally, in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey, my pistol isn't allowed out of the house unless on my way to the range or gun shop or hunting so it was home guarding my jeans...I would be in jail if I had used it!

The pit was put down avoiding 'dangerous dog' charges. The owner paid our bills via her homeowners insurance. I wonder how much that is going up if it is not canceled.

My grandfather had shotgun cartridges which he Reloaded with peas which he used in such cases.

WOW! Out here you would have been within your rights to shoot the dog with your gun and the owner would still been charged with harboring a vicious animal.

My neighbor and I let our old dogs stay out. But on nice days when they feel good the hazards each other. I have a drawer full of small bottle rockets and an old flag holder on the front porch.put three rockets in and light. Usually the woosh makes them act right.
