Tire ballast and tubes

being around farm and heavy equipment and large trailers for decades.....i've never seen a rim you couldn't tube. even split rims. just requires a boot.

Just going by what he said. He was the "GOTO" guy in Southern Ohio with tires for many years. He used to talked about the days they would do school bus inspections and how many tires he would change in a day. I think he would do typically 40-45 in a day - remember this is by hand. And no, that isn't just swapping wheels, that is taking the wheel off the bus, the tire off the wheel, a new tire back on the wheel, and then finally back on the bus.

Here is a picture of him with one of his typical tires that he worked on. BTW, he used to do these without a boom truck.

the local farm tire guyhere told me the alcohol in windwasher fluid eats/weekens the ruber in tires.. so calcum is corosive,windwasher fluid can eat /weeken and i have heard beet juice smells bad in hot weather..what is a tractor to do??? I would like to hear some beet juice guys chime in with there experience with this.

the beet juice shouldn't be able to be smelled inside your tires.

eco safe anti freeze is an alternative

if you live in flordia im sure you would have experienced a smell if it was going to. have u used it a long time? if so has it worked out good for u. if it leaks out do you have to worry about staining like on someones new concrete driveway? i have heard (not sure if true trying to find out for sure) that even if sealed up in tube and or in tire a bad smell on hot days? not just with leaks. this and washer fluid seam like best option so far. just need to figure out how bad washerfluid eats the ruber and if the beet juice smell/ stain issue is minimal.. as a side note i have a gallon of rv antifreeze sitting in a bucket right now in my barn that is froze. it was brand new this year and it is about 1 deg out to day.

remember, undiluted antifreeze actually has a HIGHER freeze point than antifreeze and water mix.


we have a couple machines at work with beet juice.

no smell I've ever found.

down here in florida i wouldn't specifically buy it.. it just came with the machines from north. here we use water and a a thin mix of antifreeze.

water is plenty heavy, cheap.. and a lil af prevents corrosion and helps for the 1 week of freeze temps we have.

no rubber eating to worry about.

beet juice, I have heard, WILL kill grass and cause fish kills in a pond.

it won't permanently poison the ground like cacl will with respect to growing plants ( salt ).. etc. but a puddle of beet juice will brown grass in that puddle.

Thanks Sound guy that's most helpful. Sounds like you have experienced a leek with the beat juice was a pretty nasty if it got on concrete do you think it would permanently stain it. Also do you know if the machines that you use with the beat juice are tubed or not
