Sorry for your troubles. You handled it better than I would have. I too, try not to say bad words in front (or ever) around my children, but crap happens. Doing what you did, then actually giving them incentive to do better, was an awesome offering and I hope it works out for you.

I was very polite and respectful when I asked the crew to take a look at the problem area and slide the sheets back further on the rest of the house. When their youngest member popped off it sent me from zero to p****d really fast. On a side note, the hanging crew was a sub for my sheetrock contractor. They were one of his hanging crews he uses before he comes in for the finish work. With that said I understand that they usually come in and hang as fast as possible and move to the next job. I got along with the boss and the rest of the crew great and decided the incentive was worth it. I told him I knew this was a difficult house and he probably wasn't getting paid any more than a normal home. I was also very frank and upfront that I would make suggestions or ask for something to be fixed and wasn't going to put up with any attitude from anyone on the crew. He apologized and agreed. The crew seemed to appreciated the gesture and did a great job hanging the rest of the house. Everywhere it was possible to get rock behind timbers they got it done. We even had one small section with a knee brace that rock wouldn't quite slide behind the brace. He took the time to pick up a couple sheets of 3/8" rock and got it to fit.

Glad it worked out for you. I will guess that the crew has never encountered that before. We can all learn something from this. Keep posting the pics.

Taping is done and started mudding today. I also worked on getting some of the old siding up that I pulled from the post and beam barn. I planed it down and finished with a clear poly.

Love that look - you're going to have very nice place:drink:
Any pics from the other side of the wall?

How are you going to finish your stairs for treads and rail?
I used 2" x 12" douglas fir from Home Depot for my treads sanded then linseed oil - looks similar to the siding boards you hung on that wall and cost next to nothing.

The wall is a framed wall so sheetrock on the other side which is part of the dining room. I've got some 4x12 doug fir that I'm planing down to about 3-1/2" for the treads. Railing will be wrought iron.

Thanks Jay. I wish I had more of it.

Just a quick update. Sheetrock should be wrapped up tomorrow and is looking really nice.. We started putting in some of the t&g that's going in the ceiling on the first floor. I got the scaffolding up and installed the ceiling fans last night. They match the timberss really well. Next week cabinets are showing up so our next step is to get paint on the walls anywhere cabinets or vanities are going. Its a very hectic time but nice to see things coming together.

Glad to see the cold weather is not stopping you. Cringing with the memories of how we scrambled like you are and glad they are only memories now. Great job!!

What are you doing for flooring and does it get installed before or after you cabinets?
