I checked into doing the same thing for my 4115. The only deck that works for it and the 2520/2720 (and the newest version R models )is the one labeled specifically for it/them as noted above. Too many guys work at Deere dealerships that have no idea of what they are talking about, and cause a lot of unnecessary frustration for customers. Fortunately, I knew what to look for and had measurements with me when I went to look at the 4000 series deck.
Yeah. Finally was able to get into the local dealer before they closed.
I explained again, that I came in, handed the sales guy the SN on the mower, and he told me I needed these connecting parts to make it work. He didn't deny it at all, but basically admitted he never ran the SN, just found the parts that a 2520 would need to have a 72" deck. I reminded him that he was the one that told me it would fit.
They basically didn't care. I'll be trying to get ahold of someone higher up, because I think it's complete BS that they only were interested in selling $800+ of connecting parts, not telling me that he didn't even check it.
By the way, I'd steer clear of Reynolds Farm Equip. It's a local branch in Mooresville, but I know they're all over Indiana.
Don't know what I can really expect, but to just say "nope, guess it doesn't work. Tough luck" is completely unacceptable. I'll be going elsewhere or ordering online.

And that is the sad thing about the Deere mondo dealerships. I have been through about 5 states now and it is turning into a monopoly. Really unfortunate for the consumer and it takes a load of work off Deere itself. 50 dealerships in the country instead of maybe 500-1000. And they can really put a choke hold on price. On-line sure, at store sure. They got you covered. The dealers now bear the cost of moving product between their stores instead of Deere.

Agreed, and this is why I will be moving to another color after all these years. No other actual paint color will ever make me as happy to look at, but it will most likely make buying stuff easier. Deere is just getting too big for the britches IMO. Well that, or hiring too many college grad bean counters instead of guys who actually work or have worked for a living with this stuff.
