Sorry, the automatic idiot defence mechanism in my mind skipped over his name.

As much as I dislike Al Gore, and despite the lake being frozen over more percentage than the past 20 years, 2013 was tied for fourth warmest year on record since the 1880s.

I was not able to safely go ice fishing three of the past 4 years. This year, the ice if very good. One year of good ice doesn't mean a thing.
9 of the 10 warmest years on record have occurred since the year 2000.
Take it for what its worth.

I suppose it depends on where you get your information.

Seems like figures can be recalculated to suit just about any desired result

THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: The last refuge of anthropogenic global warming theory fails to stand up to scrutiny

Not sure but was reading that we have more ice on G.Lakes this year than ever before on other site as well and could mean less lake effect snow fall for those of us close by. I was told the ice over local lake Erie area was very thick, most anyone could remember in area. I cant remember what it was now (3 weeks heard it.)

Warm winters were fluke of the Jet Stream & Winds out of the south but this year is much like those 1970's years where things were real cold and lots of snow on ground till march and piles lasted into April here when I was a kid...

Right... Why don't you ask some Vermont maple syrup producers about global warming. Folks in agriculture don't have the luxury of being climate change deniers. Times, they are a changing.

Global warming may be a sign that the WEATHER CHANGES WITH TIME>

Heck, most of this contenent was covered with ICE, and those Arab countries must have been lush with greenery to produce all that oil.

But what are you going to do about it?

One volcano put's out more "green house gas than mankind can even THINK ABOUT contributing.

No need for undies in a bunch. relax and roll with the punches.

After all, Human nature is nature too.

PS California is having a dry spell, They had one in the late 70's and early 80's when I lived there.

Between times, things were OK water wise. I guess Al was on top of that one too. To bad he is such a hypocrite

I'm right at the 43d parallel and had ice twice last winter. Once was a skim-over that melted within 24hrs. The second was barely 2" thick and was gone in 3 or 4 days. I only took a few steps away from the dock and a quick run to the far side the first or second day. It was just weird to see waves all winter when the wind blew.

We've had a few days above 20^, maybe a week or two's worth since Jan 1st of this year. In that time we've had 40" of snow, a record here but outdone by others in MI and East of here. My driveway looks like a luge course after pushing more snow in 6 weeks than the previous two winters, but wind has blown the powder off the ice to maybe ankle deep at most. If I get froggy tomorrow I should fire up the auger and see how thick that ice is. To me this is just another odd-ball Winter in MI and I predict nothing long-term based on just a decade's worth.

Global warming or not, our climate fluctuates between ice ages. We have no way to compare the net effect of human activity on a current gophysical trend without a relevant benchmark of none at all. Neither can we compare specific climatic details from eras before astronomical and geophysical data ("day-ta", one 't' & I don't care if you say Latin is dead) were recorded. Our climate is just that 'random'.

Nothing will ever be as unpredictable as weather or will as easily inspire our usual personal intuitions, however brilliant, and our superstitions. The press, politicians, and smarta__ed newbs on NPR who think they learned it all in 4 yrs at Party Tech and refer to process-eeze (yeesh!) ought to quit boasting of their genius at over-interpreting symptoms into an arrogant stab at scientific rhetoric, think more about coping with climate anomalies, and not expect civilization to save the planet (from nature??) when so few are as chained to the oars as we Americans are.

Warming? Cooling? Sucks to be you if you're not prepared for either. :D
