Jelled Fuel

If you expect to be able to run straight #2 with no additive in the coldest of weather with just the addition of a fuel filter heater you are going to be greatly disappointed. Your fuel will get in the tank and look similar to MarkF48's picture and will never flow to the filter heater.

My neighbor filled his 500 gallon storage tank with straight #2 fuel a few years ago. Couldn't pump it out of the tank until the temps rose back up into the high teens. Then he added Power Service White Bottle to the tank and used the pump to circulate it. Then was able to use the tank the rest of the Winter.

Alright. Hopefully the fuel filter heater will keep the tractor running with a borderline tank of #2 diesel at temps above 0F?

I'd give that a 50/50 chance. You are expecting straight #2 to not gel in the tank at 0F. Iffy at best. But it's your tractor.

Did you add this anti-gel chemical to #2 diesel fuel or a blended diesel fuel? Just wondering

Whatever comes out of the standard pump. The stuff came out of the bottle in thick globs. Not a confident testament to this companies anti gel formula. I wonder if they are still in business as I bought a case of this stuff 5 years ago? I wouldn't think they'd be an expiration date for this stuff but it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. Maybe the 4th or 5th time according to the wife.

I see you guys got OP in purty good shape....he's in KS, I doubt they blend winter diesel down there. Up here they always do...at least down to 50/50, sometimes 70/30.

Back in the day, the antigel additives weren't that great & the only way to stop waxing fuel filters was constant heat (plug in or otherwise) or 100% No. 1 Diesel Fuel. Of course, that's durn near kerosene, has little lubricity, and lots less energy.

Now days, many antigel additives seem to work pretty good such that we don't have to cut the No. 2 fuel so much anymore, despite the fuel depots still doing it up here.

I spike every 5 gallon jug with Opti-Lube XPD. No worries.

I can sure tell the fuel suppliers are blending with No. 1 though - burning fuel much faster than summertime.

Careful with old anti gel!! We had an opened anti- gel 55 gallon drum go bad! Not good. This is much stronger than the stuff found on the shelf at a 1 gallon to 1000 gallon ratio. It only took two years for that 3/4 or half a barrel to go bad. It was very clumpy and green!! It normally is thick and nearly clear! Usually smells like strong paint thinner.

I don't know how the other stuff last but make sure you use it all up or seal it tightly. If it were me and I had a small amount left you could pour it in your bulk fuel tank or into your vehicles tank. Mix it with fuel and burn it.

Me personally I would stick to the main brands like power service and Howes. Good luck
