Yeah! and I wonder who will take the credit and pat themselves on the back for this? the credit should really be given to all who stay at home and off the roads, ;)

You have that right...

snow started here at 7:30 as I was out getting diesel fuel. I still have the generator behind the house, still there from the last power outage last week. I have about 25 gallons of water saved.

Knock on wood since we have power. Not even a blip of power. We have 6-7 inches of snow with a 1/4 of ice on top. Heavy rain last night at 0300 which woke me up to check the trees, radar, forecast. More snow is supposed to hit but nothing is on radar and I hope it stays that way.

Just cleaned up the truck and SUV windshields which was fun with the 1/4 inch of ice. Thankfully, the ice is only on the snow and there is not much in the trees or bushes. Just enough to be pretty looking though I think I heard a tree fall this morning.

The problem with snow in the south is that we do not have the equipment to clear the roads. Our area had some nasty traffic jams yesterday as the snow hit and schools and people tried to get home. We had a similar event in 2005 that jammed up the roads. It was so bad thousands of kids had to stay at school since there was no way to get them home. People would abandon cars in the middle of the road and the roads turned into parking lots. This sorta happened yesterday but not nearly as bad since after 2005 the schools have gotten very cautious with this weather.

The snow is pretty stuff to look at but I have had enough of it and the cold for this season. :D:D:D

Later,
Dan

We really lucked out North of Atlanta. We kept power and just went with it.

This morning I pulled the dually out of the neighborhood with the Kioti.

Here is the video. I ended it abruptly as we were beginning to lose traction but it was a success.

I walked the dogs after mucking horse stalls. Ice was melting from the trees. I did hear a few pops.

I cleared pine and cedar from our fence lines when I got back. Stihl KM110 with a saw attachment. When I put that up I took the hay spear off the JD and put on the bucket. Pushed some ice and snow off the concrete. Finished with a flat shovel. Driveway is now bone dry in the sun and the sidewalk is underwater. Concrete guy placed the sidewalk an inch too low. We just did not get a lot of mess where I live east of Atlanta 35 miles. There might have been 2 inches of snow in the woods. One of the horses is drinking melted snow in puddles. Rain gauge says 2" of melted stuff.

we ended up with 16", and then another 1" tonight. The power stayed on, the snow was not as wet as they had predicted.

Watched the news on this and the state asked people to stay home, so were do they end up stranded out on some road. I guess they don't understand what stay home means. the best was some woman saying they survived the night with candles after the power went out. Survived the night with candles. Christ is everyone a gerbil down south. How come every storm now on the regular news is called a killer storm. Folks only you can prevent stupidity. Plan for this and stay home.

figure it out.

Millions of $$ are spent every year developing tools and yet there is not one tool out there that can fix stupid.
