My tractor came with a decent size dent in the top folded edge of the bucket.

Removed the dent and wanted to keep the bucket from getting dented again.

I need to move some good size stones this spring, so came up with this bumper
to help protect the top edge when the stones tilt back.

Will find out if this works soon. If so, I will drill holes in the front edge and bolt it
directly and securely to the bucket. For now, it is fastened temporarily, as shown.

The good news is that this bumper will also help out when doing loader work. When the loaded
bucket rises, the bumper will help stop stones from rolling out of the bucket and landing on the hood.

Not sure how you dent your bucket up there. I'm always more concerned about the bottom of the bucket.

I have not heard of one denting the bucket from a load in the bucket. Usually it is from using a chain hooked onto something heavy with the chain hook in the center like you have yours that bends the bucket lip. I would put something like a piece of 2x3 or 3x4 angle3/16" thick on the top lip and stitch weld it to the bucket with the long edge point up to help keep things in the bucket AND more importantly stiffen the top lip of the bucket.

I can tell you how to bend the top lip. I tore out a old barn floor and picked up the pieces using the top of the bucket to hold the pieces in the bucket. The pieces were wedged between the top lip and the bottom edge and then could lift them up and in the dump truck. It was hard on the bucket, but it got the job done. The bucket is not pretty anymore. More importantly the broken concrete is gone!

First thing I have done on every tractor I have bought is reinforce the top lip of the bucket using a heavy walled pipe or square tubing. Putting a hook or using it for anything but dirt or sawdust will quickly bend up a nice loader bucket.

I must not know how to use my tractor, seems to me, I would rather think how I am abusing my tractor and learn not to abuse it that way, then reinforce to cover up the abuse I do to my tractor. if that makes any sense.

I'm pissed I'm wearing out my bucket edge plowing the snow in my driveway with my new tractor.

I wore the bucket edge out completely on my B3030 at 750hrs and I never once put a dent in my upper lip of the bucket. And I moved a 40 ft stone wall.

The damage was there when I purchased the tractor. Though I might try to avoid any possoble further damage by doing this before moving stones. Not a cover up, but just trying to care for my new machine any way I can.

I really wasn't directing my comment toward you, I'm just saying it's very hard to damage or bend your bucket, if you use your tractor the way it was intended. So the boards are not needed. I doubt you will bent it like the last careless owner did.

I extended the top edge of my bucket by 12" with 1/4" checker plate mainly because with a full bucket of pit run and up all the way caused a 3" rock to fall on my hood.
