Bucket Bumper...no more dents

I've tried to come up with a way to stop materials from hitting my hood too. Dropped a chunk of asphalt on it the first day I used it. I'm not sure wood would be my material of choice and I'm a carpenter.

The rest of your bucket looks like it's in really good shape, How do you think the former owner bent the top? Maybe the hook? or a rock? It may help with stones rolling out of the bucket. I shake the curled bucket below hood height before lifting overhead or transporting. Just to settle the load and let whatever is going to fall out, fall out. I don't care too much about the bucket, but the Hood, I can't have a dent in my hood, BAM what a feeling that must be whatching a giant rock land on your hood. Then looking at the dent forever. Talk about being disgusted...

When we first spoke about the tractor's lift capacity, the former owner mentioned how he had difficulty lifting a 900lb cover. It now makes sense that with his center hook, the edge may have buckled with the weight on the chain. I was able to straighten the damaged area before installing the pt wood.

He also moved some asphault not long ago, and there are good size patches that have adhered to the paint on the bucket. Have to figure out how to get this off without removing the paint? May have a friend sand blast and respray the bucket this summer.

Took a lot of cleaning, but it's coming along. The worst part is the white paint overspray that was over the entire tractor-seat, mat, steering wheel and complete dash, rops, FEL, and all painted areas. Still trying to come up with the best way top remove it-tuff stuff! Think he spray painted his home from the bucket.

Where are you in CT?

Hey jodebg, mineral spirits will disolve asphalt take a while but won't damage the paint. You can but latex paint remover that will remove latex paint from your tractor without damaging paint or plastic.

I say just wear the asphalt off the bucket.

I bought my tractor used with only 112 hours on it. The paint on the loader had nary a scratch. Now there's a lot of paint missing. I'm getting my money's worth out of it. :)

I will try mineral spirits as soon as it warms up/thanks.

Any suggestions as to brand name for a good latex paint remover? Would be nice if this stuff works.

ZEP makes a product that is actually a degreaser, but it works real good for releasing asphalt. Look in the industrial janitorial supplies. ZEP is better than gas, because it is environmentally friendly and smells like oranges.
Gasoline will also soften asphalt.

Called "big orange" works really really good, we use it on pavers at work

Ammonia is useful for latex removal. Works fairly well. And dirt cheap right out of the neighborhood grocery store. Diesel will help remove asphalt. spray a little on and wait a few minutes. It should start bleeding off there. It worked when I was hauling asphalt and didn't clean the dump box well enough.:ashamed:

Wear edges AND a channel drain in the garage...That's a thinkin' man right there.

Thanks RDrancher, plus a bathroom and laundry sink in the Morton building too. I installed all the plumbing PVC and underground conduit for electric, phone, tv, etc. before the concrete was poured. This included the 2" inch thick (I think it was 2") insulation panels to help keep the floor warmer when I eventually heat the building.
