I would buy a blower in the middle of summer.

I simply can't get by with a blade. I use one to do my parking lot and sometimes just go down my 1000 foot laneway to make it nice and then blow away the windrow later. OR use it to move slush in the spring. I find you quickly find you have no more place to push the snow and also the drifts just accumulate from the tops of the windrows, so you are quickly fighting a loosing battle. A neighbour has a totaly different arrangment in that he has a raised driveway with no trees. The snow pretty much blows right accross it and even blows the fallen snow off of it. Lucky guy!

Min $- Put a rear blade on the tractor with chains F/R. I did my 2 driveways and 1/4 mile long dirt road that way for 4 years.
Med $- Beater 4x4, the shorter the better for maneuverability, with plow. I bought this for my wife after I was out of town and she had to do the plowing with the no cab tractor in 10dF and 30mph wind conditions.
Max $- Put a cab and front snowblower on the tractor.

What I REALLY want is a 2000-2002 F-350 7.3 PSD 4x4... for those days... But honestly my neighbor's F250 had tough moments in the icy stuff...

Be well,
David

I have plowed snow all different kinds of ways and I say that doing it from a warm cab is the best approach! :)

So far this year, once a week at least lately, I'm using the old trusty 72" back blade... And the FEL to make neat little piles. :) Sometimes I push, sometimes I drag. Just depends on how much you want to get in and out. The only problem I have is when it get over 8-10 inches deep, I have to make a couple of passes. backbladeparkinglot.jpg

I'm sorry for budding in on this thread, but I think some people are being mislead on the price of snow pushers. For your DK50, you could get a 72" Cotech snow pusher for $2000 plus freight. Exactly like the one in the attached photograph which is a 60". Considering you already have a good tractor and a FEL I think it would be a simple and cost effective solution. The moldboard is 24"high and the closed top can be unbolted if need be. Cotech Inc. GN24.jpg

I have all the toys too but for 2 grand the poor gentleman buys a snow removal device that he can't use all Summer. He lives in Virginia where there is usually not much snow. Certainly this blade will move the little amount he needs cleared and can be smartly utilized in the dirt for many years; heck he can even bury his ex with the thing LOL.

Cheap but would do the job.

Poor Quality

I purchased the 7 ft grader blade about two months ago and have used it 4 times to graded my gravel driveway. the blade bowed backwards the first time i used it. the last time i used it bent completely in half and the metal broke.

✘ No,
I do not recommend this product.

OMG am I funny this morning or what???

Might read the reviews first before buying sir.

The way I see it, if money is an issue right now and you need something now, You could build a V plow to go on your FEL with whatever scrap wood you have just like another TBN'er did but he did a angled plow. I think in your case you are better off with a V and put it in float. You will get all the traction you need since the tires will always be on cleared path. A front mounted truck plow on tractor FEL is nice, no need to maintain another vehicle IMHO. When I first got my tractor, I had scrap 2X12's and made a poormans pusher and used that for couple seasons then I pick up a free truck plow and modified it for my FEL arms. At first I connected it like a dozer blade as a pusher for one season , then later I modified A frame to go on the FEL so I can angle it the following year and been using it this way since .it been economical this way for me.

I think you are right Fred, but I was suggesting the pusher because a pick up plow costs much more, and puts more wear and tear on your vehicle.

Cheers

Boy, to me it's a no brainer. Adding a tractor toy (I mean implement) is the way to go. We don't get much snow in the NW where I am at, so the back blade is sufficient. The NE folk like their snowblowers. Looks like fun though with a big thermos of hot cocoa, but I haven't had the pleasure of freezing my extremities. I also don't want to beat up my 4x4 truck for a single purpose of moving snow. You can use a back blade for other purposes. A snowblower... no. :2cents:
