Weigh stations

Commercial only in Ontario, too. IF you have the little yellow annual inspection sticker then you must go in. Even tractors running bobtail (no trailer).

Must have been a RAM pickup...

I guess we can't be sure it was a Ram, but we can be sure it wasn't a Ford, right?
Good joke by the way. I laughed out loud. :D

The one exception that I have seen are race car teams. I saw a big blitz in Quebec where they had a half dozen motorhomes with enclosed trailers pulled over.

Pretty well any long weekend here the OPP will set up a blitz and pull everything (cars & pickups) over that is pulling a trailer and they will check for everything from seatbelts to taillights, safety chains and tie downs and the list goes on and on and on.

Yeah Quebec hates racers for some reason. I could go through the border anytime hauling snowmobiles and never get searched. I used to help a guy in the ACT tour and we went to Quebec many times and they ripped our hauler apart EVERY time then checked all the occupants for DWIs and such.

Many years ago (about 1974) I pulled onto the scales at one of the weigh stations in Arkansas when I was driving a little motorhome. The guy waved for me to go and he also said I didn't need to stop in a motorhome. I told him I knew that but just wanted to know what the rig weighed, and he told me what it weighed.

Then many years later, I believe it was in Wyoming that had a sign for "all trailers" to stop, so I did (pulling a travel trailer) and was told that sign doesn't apply to RVs.

Geesh!

Many years ago I too pulled into a weigh station with a travel trailer wanting to get it weighed. They chased me out :(

Maryland is specific to all vehicles over 10000 lbs.

I don't know about down 'south', but up here in Ontario even when the coop is closed you can still go in and park on the scale. The DoT always leave the scale turned on so you can see your weights on the readout. I do that on a regular basis with the big truck.
