That will help body shops offset the costs of the new tools they need to repair these vehicles. Should be good for both companies.

2015 Ford F-150 First Look - Motor Trend

well, the my grille is bigger than your grill syndrome seems to be alive and well.
Interesting that GM is sticking with the 6.2 and Ford's top engine is the Ecoboost V6.
The performance numbers will be key, what does losing 700 pounds really accomplish?
For some people, this will mean having to go up to a Super Duty because the 5.0 doesn't have the real world grunt to haul around five tons and they won't buy
the turbo six.

I would say that Ram is going to eat their lunch, but history sure says otherwise...an incredible number of F150's were bought last year
totally blowing away the other brands.

I think the 5.0 has enough power to tow 10k. Ford says you can tow up to 9300 with one.

Yep...only about 4-5 years late...

Why not? Let Ford do all the hard work now and see if the public is willing to buy a more expensive truck made from Aluminum. Plus GM will get a chance to see just how many repair and longevity problems turn up. If you are watching a guy cross an ice covered lake you're better off waiting to see as many pitfalls as possible before you test the ice yourself.

That is all GM does. Look at a new GM truck and see how much they copied from Ford.

I have worked and currently work (42 years) as an R & D engineer for an OEM Tier One part supplier for Ford, Chyrsler, Gm and more recently Honda, Toyota and Nissan. I can tell you we are shipping some exact same parts going on both Fords and Chryslers but GM has had us doing more innovative work than the others. Currently working on things for 2016-2019 model years.

boy bigkrank, you could be our "deep tool" here....:D
of course you can't say much...

everyone copies the best ideas of the competition. Always been that way.
Can't innovate everything all at once...so if Nissan's bed tiedown system, which I had and liked, is now
sort of copied by Ford, GM and I'm sure Ram, that's the way it goes.
Ford went way out on a limb by early adopting turbo charged non V8 engines, and it sure has worked for them.
Just look at their sales, plain and simple.
Ram is now first to market with a small diesel, coil springs, RamBoxes, etc etc.
And funny, the recent reviews say the GM trucks actually have the best ride and handling, though not by much. Good nvh control.
But all trucks today are much quieter and more refined than those of even ten years ago.
Which is why we buy that new truck...
Though the simplicity of a seventies truck with little or no emission control and a big crate motor is sure appealing.
