2015 Ford F-150 Snow Plow Prep Option is a Light-Duty First - Motor Trend WOT boy, wait until the first adopter takes his 400 pound plow into a snowbank of icy frozen snow at the bottom of his lane to "push it back a bit". Maybe. I guess this means Ford has a great deal of confidence in its new higher strength frame and also that the corporate attorneys have been up all night working in the latest weasel words into the warranty definition of "abuse". I've seen an awful lot of half tons pushing snow plows though.

How many 7.5 foot plows are under 450 pounds? I wonder how the battery is going to hold up while you are running the electric power steering, plow pump and all necessary accessories at one time.

What's that gonna cost when you hit a deer?

I clipped a deer with my 2000 Dakota and you couldn't really tell there was damage from a distance but the bill was just under five grand!

This complexity for the sake of styling is just retarded!

I bet the ETA on that is a bit out there and they are just trying to take the wind out of Ram's new V6 diesel by announcing their own.
Maybe get some faithful Ford drivers to wait a year. I'd be surprised if they can get this out on the street this year.
but it wouldn't be the first time we've had "coming soon" announced, sometimes more than a year ahead. I'm sure the marketing people would
start Christmas advertising in June if they could...whatever gets that extra unit sold.

Having said all that, way to go Ford. Now you know, the last of the big Three has to do something...wonder what GM has up its sleeve, other than the
diesel going into the Colorado. I doubt that engine would have enough grunt in the larger GM truck but maybe they can turn up the boost.

this is really neat finally having a somewhat more affordable diesel option and some competition too.

I have 2011 F150 5.0 crewcab long box, no problem pulling 5T. Changing the sheet metal to aluminium doesn't really affect the business end. However if I could increase my payload from 2300 to 3000lbs I'd trade her in. My F350 barely has that much payload. As for towing power my old 94 F150 with a 300 six at around 150 HP can pull 5 ton trailer all day, looses a little steam up the steep grades but still does it after all these years.

The 10 speed interest me but not a small diesel. Throw in the 5.0 Cummins the Nissan Titan will have the you got something.

After you add in the extra cost for the diesel, the F-150 will definately be as expensive as a SuperDuty. Why bother with a diesel F-150 when you could buy an F-250? The fuel mileage may be better but you can buy a lot of gasoline for what the diesel option will cost.

And why bother with a F250 when a F350 SRW is only $600 more for 1500# more capacity.

Yes but getting around 25mpi pulling boat and family to the lake would be great.
