I will be interesting to see how the aluminum body goes in the next 4-5 years.

if they are going to allow snow plows up front, under warranty..., maybe they really did beef up the high strength steel parts. They went from a fully boxed frame to a C form, partially boxed. I'm sure they have the computers to figure out how strong things need to be.
It's funny, I have friends who don't tow, and they were more interested in just having the same power in a lighter truck. More payload, more acceleration, better gas mileage hopefully.

Yes but getting around 25mpi pulling boat and family to the lake would be great.

I doubt that you can expect that kind of mileage while towing. If they equip it with a 3.30 axle they'll get good cruising mileage. The manufacturers are only doing this because of the government fuel mileage requirements that are coming for light trucks. I just don't think that with the extra cost and complexity of the diesel engine and cost of the fuel that the diesel option on a 1/2 ton truck will pay off for the average driver. Diesels really pay off in heavy pickups that are pulling big loads. You have to drive one to know how effortlessly they can handle a heavy load.

impressive, particularly the trailer interface diagnostic readout on the dash, the power tail gate,
but the double moon roof caught my eye. And yes it's huge, but why put all the weight up high when you've just busted
your engineers to shave off 700 pounds. Because it will sell...
Nice looking truck, granted a highly tarted Platinum version.

I was thinking a small fishing boat, we get pretty good millage with our 3/4 ton diesel with small boat.

I'm sure your pickup isn't even breaking a sweat pulling a small boat. Back last century, I had a '78 Bronco (first of the big Broncos) that had a 400 V8, auto and 4.10 axle ratio. It got 8-10 mpg whether pulling the boat or just driving. I traded it for a '83 GMC Jimmy that had the 6.2 diesel. The Jimmy would get over 20 mpg pulling the boat. At that time diesel fuel was cheaper than gas so it was a real savings in fuel. Diesels are much more powerful now but the premium for the diesel option is much greater and diesel fuel around here is about 50 cents more per gallon than regular.
