Pulling car out of snowbank

And this has what to do with buying/pricing tractors?

Why don't you just get her driving lessons ? I'd make HER shovel the car out. There probably are hook up points under there, but they are also sources of corrosion and would be well hidden by the snow bank. Just don't hook onto a tie-rod. If she still drives the car, consider a trailer hitch, yellow tape on the rear bumper (rookie status) and a speed limiter.

Sure wish I was perfect!

My buddy and I spent a day running around getting cars unstuck with my B7100 a few weeks ago, and were disturbed at the lack of chain attachment points on these new cars, too. There was a Camry with a front tire in the ditch, the underside looked like a salt flat racer, kid you not. Belly pan. Seeing as how it was someone else's car, we weren't comfortable with hooking the chain to a control arm or through the rim. Bending $1000 worth of parts on someone else's car throws the Good Samaritan vibe right out the window!:D Luckily, we had 4 guys there, and were able to lift and push the thing out without a hitch.

I would caution against pulling on control arms, sway bars, or tires/wheels. The parts are made to be lightweight but strong in the direction the force is applied under normal use. Pulling on them from the side will bend them in an instant. Tow companies have nice, big insurance policies to cover those kind of damages, I sure don't!

Stay safe,
Jim

I don't tow. I am not a towing service. That is what tow trucks are made for. Besides, up here we are 'supposed' to call the cops when someone is in the ditch. Then after the cops attend, they call the tow truck.

My neighbors girlfriend got stuck in their drive the other day. They shovled for about 15 minutes and he had her drive while he pushed. He lowered his shoulder into the trunk and pushed for all his might. Then he looked and there was a one foot diameter dent in the trunk. Nope they don't make them like they used to.

If you live out in the country around here and you have a tractor there will be somebody coming to the door and asking if you can pull them out of a ditch.

I was not to happy she was out driving on that road but she was in the road not the ditch so lessons may not help.

Speaking of towing, there's video on youtube showing a guy with a Subaru XV hybrid, towing people out of ditches. I think his tires got a little smaller doing it but i have to admit, i was surprised to see him pull the UPS truck out.
