What kind/model of tractor is best for pulling cars out of ditches???
It depends on how big the car is and how big the ditch is... :stirthepot:What kind/model of tractor is best for pulling cars out of ditches???
Sorry, did not realize that is where I put it, maybe somebody can move it.And this has what to do with buying/pricing tractors?![]()
Yes its getting so its against the law to help anybody do anything!I don't tow. I am not a towing service. That is what tow trucks are made for. Besides, up here we are 'supposed' to call the cops when someone is in the ditch. Then after the cops attend, they call the tow truck.

Our L3830 does well at pulling cars out of ditches, better than a 1/2 ton Dodge 4x4 in many cases.

So let it be written, so let it be done. The thread is now in Rural Living.Sorry, did not realize that is where I put it, maybe somebody can move it.

For some values of Orange and Green...So Orange is better than Green for Car pulling?
My buddy and I spent a day running around getting cars unstuck with my B7100 a few weeks ago, and were disturbed at the lack of chain attachment points on these new cars, too. There was a Camry with a front tire in the ditch, the underside looked like a salt flat racer, kid you not. Belly pan. Seeing as how it was someone else's car, we weren't comfortable with hooking the chain to a control arm or through the rim. Bending $1000 worth of parts on someone else's car throws the Good Samaritan vibe right out the window!Luckily, we had 4 guys there, and were able to lift and push the thing out without a hitch.
I would caution against pulling on control arms, sway bars, or tires/wheels. The parts are made to be lightweight but strong in the direction the force is applied under normal use. Pulling on them from the side will bend them in an instant. Tow companies have nice, big insurance policies to cover those kind of damages, I sure don't!
Stay safe,
Jim

It is a real problem. I hand them one end of the chain and say, "here hook up your end and I'll hook up my end". Of course, I wouldn't do that to some obviously incapable, they get to call for a tow truck.
