50 hour Hydro Oil for the non believers

What? I never thought this thread was about 'pieces in the pan' as much as about the tomfoolery of us half-wits changing-out whatever might be floating in/around a system from the factory sooner, including whatever detritus might result from manufacture/assembly. I've yet to see a tractor diminished by one extra fluid/filter change, or felt the cost was too much.

I wonder: if this whole thing had been about waxing a tractor or using tire shine on its rubber ... would someone jump in and pick apart anyone's reasons for doing either? I mean, it's just going to get dirty again, whether paint, rubber, or oil. Meanwhile, I'll be wearing a straight jacket in the poor house with a tractor full of what I made sure was poured into it. :confused2: ("arms crossed" ...)

We let our gals do things for 'emotional' reasons, and we usually know better than to impugn their 'logic'. IMO, it's time us guys got some of the same consideration. According to trolls in other threads, not revealing to a buyer or warranty dept that one skipped a 'ridiculous & unneeded' oil change would be just this side of criminal behavior. Whether this thread does or doesn't get closed, maybe it should be moved to the 'judging others' forum. Personally, I'd like to please one person 'once' of the time. Tough room. :D

+1.

It has always amazed me that people will spend $30,000+ dollars on a machine but will complain and not do a simple oil and filter change when it is specified. My FIL ran a Dodge truck to over 500000 miles and was horrendous about changing the oil or even keeping it full. Now he got away with that because of it being a 360, tough as nails old school engine. [tranny not so much, 4 I believe] He tried that with the new engines and they did not make it to 150K. Sooner or later it will cost you money, I guess roll the dice if you want but in the end it is all about choice, choose wisely! CJ

But it is NOT specified. My Dealer say's not to change that the service manual is correct.

To each there own, I would not criticize someone for changing it either so don't criticize us.

I got no idea how this happened.

You're playing both sides .;) Earlier in the thread you made a couple of snappy responses to keep other poster's counter examples, inline: pertaining only to high PSI hydrostat systems that you deemed unique and unequal in mechanical design. Now for your position, you reference, not only a different transmission type, but a simple gas engine- to help support your view.
Hmmm....

I didn't criticize anyone, if your manual says not to change it than don't. Mine does. A little touchy are we? All as I am saying is do what the Manufacturer says at a minimum and they will be happy when you try to get warranty if needed. If you noticed beings it looks like it is getting time where I may need a lawyer I did not say anything in this post about time or hours!! CJ

This thread looks pretty tame to me. A poster or 2 looks to be purposely trying to make it look worse than it is. The point of threads is to discuss.

Yup, and these simple gas engines are no longer simple. They now have oil metering jets to lube overhead cams and if not taken care of they will plug up and destroy automatic chain adjusters and destroy cam journals. Same side, different application. CJ
