Trick question right?

Not really. If his tractor fits it and the mechanism is in good shape, they work pretty slick.

and now we wait the OP's response once the seller confirms.

But looking at that second post of the box scraper....**** that looks real heavy to go behind my tractor...but I guess I am just barely in the Cat 1 category...so still learning :D

Thanks for all the replies/advice.

I think it will be worth going to look at it in person. Pics helped, but just can't tell about that handle, the spring or the holes in the back (I'm guessing they had a trailer ball attachment back there). I was guessing 600-750 pounds. Over 1,000 would probably be a bit much for my needs.

I should be able to arrange to see it this weekend. The photos were dated 06/2013 so I don't think it is going anywhere real fast at the current price.

I'll let ya'll know on Monday!

David

It's an older Gannon from before they enclosed the torsion springs to make for better tension adjustments. The handle is mounted backwards, so not a big deal. $500 is actually a real good price and it's in good shape from sitting out in the desert. All of the springs, pins, etc. should be the same as the new units and are available from Woods dealers.

Edited to add: If you do buy it and need springs, pins or whatever, take some detailed pics of what you need. I have the parts breakdown with numbers. Woods hasn't owned Gannon for THAT long and sometimes the dealers have a hard time with them.

I would love to find one like that, put it in the shop, go thru it and convert to hydraulic, darned old red clay is aggravating. Always getting on and off ripping, raising the rippers and dragging when building pads. We don't see them very often where I'm at. I have a frontier 60" built by woods, that's good, but that would be better! LUTT

I have a 72" gill that's similar to the one your looking at. I've read that it weighs anywhere from 825-950 lbs., depending on what publication you believe. I paided $350 without scarifiers. Mine was missing a pin (1 1/8") that held the rotating scarifier bar in place on one end of the box. The handle had broken off too. I think I got a very good deal. Yours looks like it's just as well made
My box will stop my ck35 (time to upgrade to a dk40).

Even though it may need a bit of work, it should be worth $500 but if that is the advertised price, you can likely get it a hundred or so cheaper.

I agree. $500 is a good price on a Gannon.
