Some mistakes have greater consequences than others.

Drunk driver killed two and critically injured 5 with 20 others in hospital in Austin last night.

Well, too me that is not a mistake or an accident. My Mother always said --- "accidents don't happen on purpose". In this case, the person intentionally/purposely drank too much and drove. That is a criminal act ... not an accident or a mistake.

oh -- dont get me started on idiots on road .. please .. I see nothing but trouble all the time. When driving causally within speed limit there is always someone who wants to be a jerk.. best thing to do is let em go. road rage seems to get worse and worse every year.

Our rash of cross the center line head-on accidents continues. It's freaky how regular those accidents are occurring. It's getting so I wonder which one is coming for me, as I look at oncoming cars.

I don't think one can "accidentally" drift across the center line. People are doing something else when they should be paying attention to their driving. You can't be accidentally doing something else.

guns don't kill people .... vehicles don't kill people .....

in general : it takes the #$%^& person behind the wheel to cause the accident ...... yes , idiots that cut someone off, travel too fast for conditions, improperly equipped the vehicle for conditions, inattention, poor judgement, bad driving habits and general lack of GOOD common sense. ( yes I know, common sense is not common any more )

there are a few "safety recalls" , but better than 99 percent are caused by people.

as for road rage ... how does that old saying go again? ... "stop lights in CA are there, to allow you time to reload"

Last week - local farmer moving combine with header still on down our country road. Impatient dimwit couldn't wait for combine to pull off. Tried passing and got caught in soft gravel shoulder. Off the road and into the largest granite boulder within five miles in either direction. Da-n lucky he didn't kill himself. Car was totaled. Apparently some people turn their brains off when they grab the wheel.

It's always easy to blame the guy in the ditch or sideways across the road ... while the instigator cruises on oblivious to what others got into trying NOT to run their bum a__ over or to get out of his/her way. (good intentions gone bad?)
