DT86 is it a lindeman conversion? It is reminiscent of the undercarriage they delivered

Basically ford tin and engine on an HG cletrac frame and wide tracks. Ford had something going with cletrac in the 50's to build some track model but the deal feel thru so only some prototype are left. A guy at one of my clubs has one built on an 8n/cletrac.

I guess the n series were adapted to quite a few different machines. I've seen pics of a 9n turned into a pavement roller. Wonder what all they were converted to back in the day??

i like those N ones too.

probably the only way i'd ever buy another N.. is with tracks or halftracks..

I'm not really sure what it is. Some of the welds would indicate it was not a production adaptation.

Exactly DT86. Great pics! I've seen pics of that or one very similar. It was called a Gledhill road roller. I've also seen pics of 9ns turned into mototugs during WW2 to pull around war planes on the airfields.Just the other day I was about to takeoff from Chicago-O Hare and spotted a newer model ford tractor fitted to pull or move equipment, etc.

When I was a kid I remember seeing a picture of an 8n/NAA/600? half track as part of an artic research convoy.

Edit; needless too say it was a very old picture when I was a kid...

Some neat stuff there,Kirk. I wonder how much more those crawlers will pull than a rubber tire model? My Dad used to have an Allis Chalmers HD-5 dozer that for it's size would really surprise you what it was capable of pushing . Even my 941 Cat loader with over half worn out bars on it's tracks will still push a lot. But if the ground is wet or frozen,it won't pull itself LOL. jim
