Not sure if there was a system glitch ?
Catching up on my email, I found this recent notification from PhysAssist, related to this thread: Thanks for the 411 Phys !
"As far as small bandages, I find that the only ones with staying power are the Bandaid name brand sport strips.
For larger wounds or ones that bleed a lot, you can't beat Quick-Clot dressings, which we used in interventional radiology sometimes for arterial bleeds (although you also HAVE to use strong direct pressure.).
The only antibacterial or antiseptics we recommend are Chlorhexidine solution which can be mixed with potable water to clean wounds, otherwise plain soap and water are best.
(NO peroxide, alcohol, betadine or even, mercurachrome because they all cause further tissue damage and impair healing)
and for wound dressing- products containing not more than 10% tea tree oil (which can even kill MRSA).
NO neosporin or other OTC antibiotics, which can actually make the risk of complications and wound infection higher, because they inhibit non-pathogenic healthy skin bacteria, but no longer kill any of the disease-causing bacteria."
