How to convince the wife to let me get one

First off does she play an active role in what goes on outside....does she work in a garden, take care of anything....or just help you out in all the jobs out there. If she does it is real easy. Show her some videos on the internet of people doing the same job you just finished....look honey how easy this was to do. Show her videos of it doing jobs you want to do.

This is what I did....and the fact that I am not a kid anymore, so I need to work smarter not harder.

Good luck.

Okay so, I've done my research for the past couple of months and settled on the B2650. :) So of course I've gotten the green light previously. We currently have a cub cadet "garden tractor" which is just too small and doesn't have the necessary implements to do what I need done.
Things I think I can do around the home (only 2 acres) mostly wooded 95%.
  • grade gravel drive way
  • snow removal
  • landscaping mulching
  • complete driveway and backfill
  • no grass to cut
  • small tree stump removal
  • chipping
So a few days ago, I tell her im going to place the order and she goes "okay well how much is it..." and thats when it went down hill...
apparently her thought was that it was like our previous tractor $2k. Overall, cost is not a concern, she doesn't think I would not use it as much as I think I personally would. I currently do not use the small one we have as much frankly, because it cannot do much. We have no grass to cut and I cannot add a loader, backhoe, or box scraper. Moving just 3 yards of gravel with a shovel is not fun at all.

So I'm asking... am I missing something that it would be useful and could say to her to convince her?:confused3:

I must be one of the lucky ones my wife convinced me to buy a tractor Especially after she saw what it would cost either in time or money to plow 300"drive and parking area. She tells me at least once a week how useful the tractor is and how she can't imagine not having it.

Not knowing a thing a bout tractors, I think doing it all over again I would look for a used one. I have seen some great deals out there once I started looking Craigslist can be a great resource.

We have 5 acres many trees. I have taken down well over 50 trees factor in paying some one to do that and the tractor paid for itself many time over. my next purchase after the tractor is paid off, is a band saw mill.

Then what do you do with the wood?

Might as well get a few woodworking tools

When manual labor is involved, you will eventually wreck your back/neck/shoulders, it's just a matter of when and which one (or the trifector lol).
Does it have to be new?
If so, why?
There's a huge used market out there. Look around and you'll find something under 10 G's that can do what you want, I'd bet on it.
The 8N in my avatar turns 64 this year. Does it break down? Sure. Is it easy to fix? 95% of the time yes and I am no mechanic by any means.
Can it do what I need? Yes, everything I need it too, except FEL work obviously.

Do the 10 yards of gravel by shovel/rake with her helping, better yet do 5 yards and she'll be on board in no time lol. To top it off get her to help move some fire wood around too.

Tractors in general are great labor saving devices, and the guy that invented the hydraulic powered Front End Loader was a genius and I owe him a lot!

You're welcome. :)
Just kidding of course. But I may be as close as you can ever come to that. I don't know the while story, but my dad used to tell about he and my uncle going into the shop in 1938 and emerging spring of 1939. They were tired of pitching manure by hand. They built a winch bucket on the front end of an F12 Farmall. They had to drill all the holes by hand and bolt it together because they didn't have electricity much less a welder. He said there were guys driving by that almost went in the ditch. A few hours later there were cars parked along the road for a 1/4 mile in both directions on both sides of the road. It was like the county fair. It never occurred to them that they should ever patent anything. The next year, evidently, Farmall came out with a version that was amazingly similar. They didn't really care, they had already saved their backs, but it woulda been nice if they had.

This is his last post. Has he been banned from TBN? Is he locked in the basement in shackles and chains? Suppose he is in need of rescue????:confused3:

We should all mount up on our tractors and storm the castle.

Careful there might be two of them!

Yah, he is probably strapped to a pallet in the basement with rats gnawing on important things. He needs to be rescued by the tractor brigade ASAP before he is totally emasculated.
