Backhoe Backhoe stabilizer pads installed

Anyone know the thickness of the Bigfoot Pads? I have a CNC plasma table and I am going to cut and fab a set up for my backhoe. Looks to be 1/4" or 5/16" thick.

I used to own a set. Definitely thicker than 1/4. Maybe 3/8ths. Maybe even 1/2". Pretty thick. They were made from a single piece of precision cut plate and then finished in a big press break is my guess. Need more than home workshop tp duplicate exactly. I recall thinking that I could make a functional equivalent with some heavy angle iron and a buzz box.

3/8". 12 3/4" x 12 3/4" OD . The 4 bent down legs are 9" x 3" scalloped with a 2" dimension in the middle. Add 3/8" to the leg dmensions fpr OD.

Here is my fabricated version of the Bigfoot Pad. Going to drop it off to be powder coated tomorrow. I will post some pics when finished. Figured I would save a few bucks doing it myself.

Nicely done. Looks like you have some nice metal cutting equipment (?water jet) and a fingered press for the bends. That isnt an easy project with home shop tools. Not sure I'd bother with powder coat though it would look nice. A week or so of digging in sandy soil will take paint off just like on a bucket.

I have a 4'x8' CNC Plasma Table that I create CAD cut files and it cuts the part out for me. Three parts per pad, Two of the legs were bent on a 20 ton shop press from Harbor Freight and the other two legs were welded on and then took a dealt grinder and ground the welds and radiused the edge.

Clever use of press and welder. You might look at the "SWAG Off Road press brake finger break kit" (try google). Designed to work with the HF 20 ton press and would allow all of the bends to be made in the press. I have the non fingered version. Wish I had the fingered version.

Here is what it looked like after bending but before I welded the 2 sides on.

I have the SWAG heavy duty straight die. I will have to look at the one with the fingers too.
