I have never purchased an ATV and interested in either buying a 2009 Honda Foreman TRX500FPE or a 2013 Honda Foreman TRX500FPE for 7300. The price for the 2009 is $4999 and for 2013 $7315. The 2013 is a demo but the dealer is still charging $500 for freight and $407 for a setup charge.

My questions for those of you who have purchased an ATV--are the prices normally negotiable? Also the salesperson is trying to push me to buy a 2014 Polaris Sportsman 570 for $6800. Appreciate your comments.

Like anything, the prices are negotiable. I refuse to pay those freight and set-up fees. Just go to several dealers and ask for the bottom line all inclusive price.

Stick with Honda for a 4wheeler. They are tough as nails. For $7300 you should be able to get the new Honda Foreman 2014.

Me personally I bought a used 2003 Honda Forman 450 ES for $2,900. It had 950 miles on it. It runs great. I just couldn't spend $7,000 on a new one.

Do you have an UTV already?

There's a big diff in prices from dealers. Theres a place in Chattanooga that promises rock bottom deals.

The guys I run with like their Hondas, saying they are simple and well-built. I have my daughter's Kawasaki 700 tore down in my shop right now, trying to work through all the wiring, junction boxes, fuses, actuators and what is apparently a small computer, trying to figure out why it won't go into 4WD. Simpler is better. And don't let anyone sell you what you don't want.

I agree honda is great. I had a Honda Recon 650 and I liked it. Since then I've had 2 Yamaha Rhinos and really like them a lot.

I have a 1999 Honda Foreman 400ES and a 2000 Yamaha 400 Kodiak. Both good solid machines that have been trouble free (so far). Both bought new. They don't get much use however since we bought the Kubota RTV900 but they get occasional use.

Thought about buying an utv but I don't own a pickup or a trailer to transport it so decided to go with the atv. I can rent a pickup from uhaul to take it in for servicing whenever that is required. Definitely going to purchase the Honda.

I've always been partial to Honda, I've had a few. I had a 2002 Foreman ES, nice machine. Have you thought about a Rubicon? It's a little more expensive, but has a tranny with low range, for down hill descents I remember wishing I had the Rubicon at times. I also had an 07 Rincon which was nice as well, I just always wished I had given the Rubicon a try. We currently have a Rancher 350 4x4 manual shift which doesn't get used much. One thing I'll say is go with the electronic shift over the manual, you'll be glad you did. Honda has the direct shaft drive as opposed to a belt, no belts to wear out. The reason the Rancher doesnt get used is the fact we have a Kubota RTV, much more versatile. If you really want Honda check out the new Pioneer UTV, you might be glad you did.
