Help quick - adding rear remotes to a tractor not yet delivered

I just called the dealer. $800 per rear remote for a total of $2400 for all 3. They were planning on delivery on Wednesday for the tractor. If I add the remotes now, they're part of the loan.

What do you think? Perhaps I should wait and add them later down the road, like maybe at the 50 hr service and just pay cash for them? I have no use for them right now, but I'm sure I will at some point in the next year or two as I learn how to make a big garden and fix up the property for a small farm.

I need to let him know tonight so he can order them if I want them as part of the loan.

It's a lot easier all around if you just get them now. Then you'll be done with it. Be sure to get as many float functions as you can. Probably only one, but that will work. ;)

Yes, only 1 float function available. I'm thinking that I won't get them now. I don't need to add the additional $40 a month to the loan for something I don't currently have a need for. Later down the road when I sell my other house, coughing up the extra money will be a lot easier.

Say that again, how much $$$$$ for a three spool valve. Do not back in to that doorway. That is a totally unrealistic price for the parts and service.

A local hyd shop could probably do it better and for much less.

If you can turn a wrench and chew gum at the same time, you can do it yourself and be satisfied with the results.

I also don't believe some people recommending that you spend that kind of money for what they offer.

I highly recommend that you wait, save your money and later purchase the stacked valve by Prince and install it yourself.

Here is a well laid out rear remote setup by one TBN member.

I believe this setup was done by flusher

I decided to go ahead and wait on the rear remotes at this time. The tractor should be in my garage on Thursday :)

That's a good choice. WWay to much $$$. Not sure if I was lucky or what, but my dealer had a couple of M9540's open station on his lot that he said that Kubota just dropped off. I had previous dealings with my salesman when he was at a NH dealer. He said that they didn't order them and wouldn't. Usually guy's in that range tractor want cabs. They sat there for a year or so and he was eager to move them. I made my deal and got him to add all the remotes that were available, a new battery, paint the faded wheels, and a bunch of other dealer installed options without any fuss from him! In other words, I think there is a bunch of "room" for negotiations on dealer installed items. If you sense even a tiny bit of dealer "eagerness" for a sale from him, start throwing in some of these d/i options and see where he folds.

I found out the owner [ flusher ] of the installed remote valve on the fender of the tractor above by posting the URL of the picture in the picture search on Google Chrome.

It took me back to the post that [ flusher ] did when he did his installation.

It worked quite well.

J J, you gotta be careful, because you make it sound simple to add remotes... lots of guys will probably start thinking about doing so, and you'll be busy with P.M.s answering questions. Very useful stuff!

I'm a little interested in doing it that way, now. The only change I'd make is trying to hide it in a near-factory location and making the linkage so the controls are where they would be with a factory install. It doesn't appear as though it would be too difficult to do that.

Its not quite as easy as JJ makes it out to be, but its not rocket science. I had 0 knowledge of open center vs closed center or most other hydraulic things before I bought my tractor last summer. I ended up doing a 3 spool install & TnT a few months after I got it.

Not sure I'll do it again if/when I upgrade to something with a cab, but I would do it again on another open station.

Kubota L3200 TnT & 3rd function install (work in progress)

Think of how much you have learned, and how your confidence level has increased on this subject. All good things.
