Welcome to our humble family.

Jisgren,
Welcome to TBN and the Texas thread. We had deer leases not too far from Thicket.

Jisgren, Welcome to the country! I have never lived in a city like Houston, but work in them. After you move to the "woods", it may take a few showers to wash the city off and you'll be cured:thumbsup:

Warm and windy in North Texas, light mist/drizzle right now.

Greetings!

Thought I would introduce myself her since we are in Texas! My wife and I just bought 97 acres of land in Thicket Texas and starting to plan the build out. We live in Houston now, but my daughter has been involved raising heifers through FFA and we have all caught the country bug! (I know y'all are shaking your heads about the darn city-folk moving out to the country...). Right now land is timber plantation with no improvements on it so we have our work cut out for us. It is gorgeous with a small creek/bayou running though the lower third with tall cypress and other hardwoods

Plan is build the "guest" house first, then a barn and finally the main house. First job will be to put a culvert and driveway in. I have been inspired by Eddie's build out, but not sure I am ready to adopt a pig yet...

Jisgren- Welcome aboard. Don't worry about the pigs............they will adopt you and your land and multiply.

Charlie

It is windy!!!! I am positive I saw FG blow by and shortly thereafter,Brandi. Makes sense since FG lives closer and they both don't weigh more than 120# soaking wet!! Blowing your way Jim, so watch for 2 blondes!

Looks like I lost my Fuji apple and 3 maple trees, so a trip to Lowes to cash-in on the "guarantee" is in order.

I wonder how I came to be up there in the first place?:confused2: Also, which leg are you referring to weighing 120 lbs?:confused3:

Question for our Southern TBN'ers. I just read this article about the "Crazy ants" yesterday and have heard about them last year, you people are going to keep them down there RIGHT!

Houston braces for invasion of 'Crazy Ants' | Fox News
Since they are fighting the Fire Ants, I guess they will follow the fire ants. Got any napalm? I was raised with fire ants, so they don't bother me.:p Just tell the young'ems to keep checking and moving their feet while outside. Someone will need to figure out how to stop them getting into electrical components. I nominate Jim.;););)

Brandi, I agree, Jim has the time now since he's not going to do much gardening this year.

Why don't you give me a tough assignment?;) Just buy some cattle ear tags and put them in all the electrical boxes where you don't want ants. I have great luck with them around my aerobic septic controller and my central air power sub-panel.
