That's a very pretty area.

If you'll write like Carl Hiaasen, I'll pre-order not one, but 2 books - my wife loves his books. Peaceful and reinvigorating place your brother has, and of course I love Maisey. Be careful driving out.

I just came back from driving about 75 miles on I-95 - saw many RVs pulling vehicles - one was pulling a CRV with 2 kayaks on top, another was pulling a small Ford PU with a jon boat on top...many others. All the drivers had smiles on their faces.

That's is just plain beautiful, daug! Ye brother ain't doing so bad, eh? I love those wood floors in his house! Is it heart pine? And, taking ye shoes off! I reckon ye took them off before ye entered. Having lived in Japan so many years, we CANNO' come in our house with nasty shoes anymore. I digress and sidetrack...

I say keep ye pics coming! I like ye bros dog too! My mix chocolate lab is 8 now, sure hope she lasts a long time! We love the little rascal! Ok, daug, loving ye trip so far!

That's a very pretty area.

it sure is. Amazingly, 50 acre minimum zoning. Amazed that holds up in courts but it does.
Tonight we went to a nice restaurant in The Plains, a tiny but tony town nearby, which Robert Duval lives in or nearby.'
And guess who was eating dinner when we came in, but Duval and his younger Argentinian wife, who I'm told taught him to be quite a dancer.
And when I baited my brother if I could go over and get his autograph, he fell for it for a second, really bad form apparently. I always thought Duval was a good actor. Tonight he was just enjoying the Italian food.

My brother rode the wave of home appreciation in the seventies and eighties like a fine surfer. Bought a small house in Bethesda that doubled in value, the next house almost tripled, crazy increases. And he bought his first farm with the equity growth. And now so wishes to sell this one; he wants to retire and maintaining "the life" here is just not affordable any more.

Yeah, I know wha' ye mean about maintaining and such. I reckon my young days dream of about 50-100 acres is over. Cain't even keep up with me 4.5!

Well daug, (hey, when ye stop by to see me, I cain't be calling ye "daug", Drew, right? But I do like the names we use here) it's finally getting warmer down south. Be ho' enough soon. Keep'er between the ditches and lines.

Mac, that's funny, like boating, keeping it between the reds and the greens.

Not an overly pleasant drive down 81 to Staunton. Geez what a lot of big trucks, and I spent a lot of time experimenting with what speed the
trans could hold either fourth or fifth gear. Tow mode seems to accomplish nothing. I'm pushing so much air that if I let of the accelerator, I'm slowing down right then. I even have to give it a little gas going downhill...

The Staunton KOA is nice. Dry and dusty back roads in here, not much rain here recently apparently. I wound up with a pull through site which was actually a double, so I have a nice high view which I will take pics of later.

Assuming I can get the car off the dolley with more success than I got it on that one time..., planning on meeting Wingsprd and his wife for dinner at a home cooking place in Staunton. He is here for the Fly Fishing and Wine Tasting festival this weekend.
Then tomorrow I'm off to the place the campground office said was the best breakfast for locals around.
If I don't see any tractor hats on, not sure this will be a credible TBN moment, but I'm sure I won't eat for many hours thereafter...

need to get the car off the dolley and then maybe take a nap and a shower and go get some Virginia home cooking.

I ate there last fall and it was good.

and with my last name of Augenblick, I do get a hankering for a little sauerbraten now and then. ;)
I'm eating in tomorrow night though, this place is really fully equipped, with a concrete patio and gas grill included. Don't even have to set mine up.
