I've got the same deck with about a 140hrs on it. On mine there has been a little evidence of the belt occasionally rubbing on the guard, but nothing that would suggest that it is a constant thing. I haven't not had reason to look into it but I would imagine it might have something to do with the belt tensioning spring. Not to sound snotty but have you checked your manual for the ability to adjust tension? I know I should know this myself being and owner and having read the manual, just can't remember for the life of me if there is useful information in the manual.

John Thomas taught me how to reply to specific person. Thank you again for your reply and I will be contacting dealer soon.

I wish I could have been more help. :) Truth be told I'm a newbie at all of this was well. I agree with the advice given about talking to your dealer, they should be willing to handle it as well as explain why your having issues with the belt. In any case have fun with your machine and let us know what your dealer says

Rev it up. Mine flops around a lot also unless I run some higher RPM's.

I noticed the belt on my 60" deck on my 2230 doing that right after I bought it. The dealer looked at it & couldn't find anything wrong with it.
It is 10 years old now & still has the original belt on it. I think it's normal for the 60" decks. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks to all of you. The mechanic at the dealership says to rev it up more than i have thus far during the break in period, but not to the point of compromising the break in procedure. I do think it needs to be running at higher RPMs to work properly and am hopeful it will resolve itself with adjustment to RPM. I will post as I go!

I have a 2012 BX2360 with 60" deck. My belt does not make any unusual sounds even when I have the rpms down to an idle. There still may be something going on with your deck and now is the time to get it resolved since it is a new unit.

agree

I can see some belt dusting on the deck and can see that the belt rubs against the belt guard supports and guard at times. Anyone else had this problem and know what the cause/fix may be?

Have owned several and have rarely been a full throttle operator but I do go with higher rpms when engaging/using implements. Have never had any odd sounds or smells or evidence of bits of the belt laying on or around the deck. I'm sticking to my story that something isn't right on a new tractor and mowing deck that lets the belt touch anywhere that removes bits of the belt. Run it at high rpms and then see if it's touching or shedding rubber.

Mower belts do vary with the tensioner depending on RPM's and load! The biggest repair for long life of belts is being sure the idler is free. We have aq commercial fellow with ZD series with nearly 8,000 hours and he is on his 3rd belt counting the original which is something of a feat of it's own in this disposable world.

If you haven't already done this. Remove the deck so you have good access/visibility. Remove the guards and belt. Then, by hand, rotate all of the spindles to see if there is any binding. Also rotate the drive shaft to see if there is any binding in the gearbox. Maybe also pull the gearbox fill plug to confirm the lube level is full. Maybe give all zerks a little grease as well.

One other thought. Make sure you have the correct belt. Dealer may have installed a slightly longer belt allowing more belt flutter. Not very likely but worth checking.
