Who misses good ole' Made in USA clothing for the farm or around the yard?

Here's the reason:
Tow bags "similar" one from China 39.99 2012 HOT Selling! desigual bags free shipping women fashion handbag+pu +lCanvas+eather+shoulder+messenger bag -in Messenger Bags from Luggage & Bags on Aliexpress.com
The similar bag made in the USA is $360.00 Tote Briefcase - Color Block | Filson.
Now you boys may like throwing an additional $320.00 in the trash, but for me I'd rather use that extra $320.00 on an American meal, American milk, American corn, etc. This argument of buy America is getting old, and quite frankly pretty foolish.
As I understand thing people would rather pay 10 times for something because it's made in America, rather than spend the 90% they could have SAVED on other American goods. I hope you all see the ignorance in that reasoning. Unless your all millionaires and you spend 10 times the price for goods PLUS you buy American milk etc. Actually that doesn't make you any less foolish, it still makes you wasting your money.

Your point is very common and that is why we have most of the imported crap sold here in America. There are different types of people that buy things. Some people like to have lots of stuff and dont care if it has poor quality and does not last. Some people like to have quality items that will last many years or generations. The switch to having lots of crap is more popular now than ever. Because of the way our country lets other country's manufacture and import items Americans do not pay what it actually costs to make things any more unless you buy American made. Some items that are made in the USA are unbelievably expensive and the price can not be justified but they must sell them.

I still cant believe that our government for as much as they like to control how we work and the safety hoops we have to jump through and the emissions they put on our engines that they can turn the other cheek and import China products with the way they treat there workers. If they had half the workplace safety that we have here the items they sell would cost more and in turn the quality would have to be better to sell them. There are some things that are made other places that are very good just like there are things made in the USA that are not good. In general made in China is CRAP!

You got to be kidding me!!! I hope you are joking  Not even close to similar product. The Filson bag you posted is one tough bag that will last a lifetime for a man. Made in Seattle, WA. Full disclosure... My buddy happens to be an executive there. The China bag is a cheap knock off of Desigual Spanish fashion designer bags for women and is junk.

Please tell me you are joking!

I for one am far from wealthy, but I buy into the quality over quantity. I will always buy Made in USA when it's available and if I can afford it. Yes, I'm the wacko that reads the labels. I guess I got that from my Dad, bless his soul. I'm not into flashy designer labels as far as clothing goes, but I am into the "flashy" Made in USA label, to me that's more of a statement than say Gucci or whatever the trendy fancy brand may be.

The argument is getting so old, yet here you are taking a stance to buy imported?! Now that seems like a valid argument. Do you fly an American flag in your front yard with a label reading made in Malaysia, after all, why buy American if you could've saved a few bucks on it? The ignorance in your reasoning is quite simply, ignorant.

Your opinion, of course...but when YOUR job is exported, you might think differently.
The other thing..buy Filson, you'll have it for life...uy Chinese, it'll fall apart in he first year

Please explain how buying ONE American item fro my $360.00 helps MORE than me spending the remainder of my $320.00 on American items. OK so lets say the bag maker in my example loses his job, that's ONE JOB, but my $320.00 has created or saved TEN JOBS. Do you get it, if I spread my $360.00 around to 10 companies rather than ONE COMPANY I'm doing more good for the USA than you would id you dropped your entire pay check on ONE ITEM.
So your rational does not hold water. The old mantra of BUY AMERICA save a job is one of the most misunderstood and misused remarks anyone can make.

If your going to quote old out dated talking points at least spend five minutes at a calculator before you look like you never passed third grade math. You want to spent $360.00 in one company and wave your flag as a Good ole boy who helps America. In reality you are hurting America, by only spending your money in one firm. I wave my flag and know I've spent $36.00 on TEN COMPANIES, knowing I did ten times more good for this country that you did.

That's 10 more delivery drivers, 10 more cashiers, 10 more building rents, 10 more, window washers, 10 more accountants, 10 more, taxes being paid, 10 more everything. Now do you see how spending WISE is better than spending FOOLISHLY is better for this Country.

The sooner you wake up the sooner this Country will prosper.

I think I've got Cat_Driver figured out, he is apparently buying American farmed and sold bread, eggs and milk, which in turn is supporting our nation's economy. Thankfully, he did better than myself and moved on to fourth grade math, but apparently didn't pass. Unfortunately, to save money, he has been importing his prescription medications from China, which unbenounced to him contain lead, as well as trace amounts of unknown chemicals and thus, his rationale shows a serious chemical imbalance. Even more disheartening is the fact that his health insurance comes from India and routine mental health care is not covered. All things considered and with the money he's saving, hopefully he'll attend summer school, pass fourth grade math, realize his numbers were all wrong and finally come to recognize it's people like him who have contributed to our dependence on imported foreign products.

Oh sorry you didn't understand the point, here let me splain it for you. Generally you can buy an IMPORTED item for about 10% of what it is sold for in teh USA. the example posed aside - but the point well made. I mean we can discuss all day long how MOST people buy by price not by designer, but we'll save that for another day.

You and I both know anyone can purchase a designer product and have it knocked off for pennies on the dollar. So AGAIN my point is leather is leather, thread is thread. A designer jacket made of leather in the USA for $1000.00 can be made anywhere in the world for $100 - $200.00, ( India, China, Taiwan etc. ) My point - had you taken the time to understand it was WHY SPEND ( lest use the invisible leather jacket this time so your brain Synopsis don't explode ) WHY SPEND and additional $800.00 for an American made product, when I can SAVE $800.00 and fund a dozen companies rather than just that one selling the over priced leather jacket?
Ya thought so - no answer for that one. You know ALL jackets are out of style in a year so having the AMERICAN made jacket last to hand down to the grand kids - is irrelevant. If my imported jacket "breaks" I can buy five more or one a year for five years and after the fifth year I will still be wearing a NEW JACKET while you will be wearing a five year old jacket - BOTH SPENDING THE SAME MONEY.

So your arguments all FAIL.

Now for the argument no one ever talks about because most are sheeple and only spew talking points never taking a second to think for themselves. I got a patent on a product and tried to get it produced in the USA. The CAD drawing at the time was 12K, the mold was 25K, to produce ea. part was $40.00 ea. or $40,000.00 for the minimum run. So essentially I was out of business unless I could come up with nearly 80K before I sold the first unit. So all you flag wavers, what about that. USA companies were STOPPING me from starting a business - WHAT NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THAT - what only cricket sounds now.

I sent the whole package to another Country - got it made to MY SPECIFICATIONS tested here in the USA to meet MY STANDARDS, and I got the drawings, mold and 500 pieces ( NOT 1000 ) all for under 10K. WELL, WELL, WELL, lookie there now I can hire 25 people, but a building, make HUGE TAX PAYMENTS to the government, buy medical for my employees, send my daughter to private school, all because of ANOTHER COUNTRY DOING WHAT THE GREAT USA WOULD NOT DO.

So don't fly your American worker flag in my face because the American worker / businesses prevented me from making money.

How many more "American workers " are working because of foreign products. I can tell you most of the workers today rely on foreign products to get a pay check.

You want to point your finger, point it at Union Workers who get $70.00 and hour to DO NOTHING. I can guarantee you this no other country pays people $70.00 TO DO NOTHING because of no layoff contracts.

Postal Service Still Paying Thousands Of Workers To Do Nothing

12,000 paid not to work (UAW Union Alert)

Go ahead if you all want to support AMERICAN workers who do NOTHING - go ahead. I will spend my money wisely on PRODUCTIVE workers and companies and if that means outside teh USA - so be it. I will never give a dime to a union worker to DO NOTHING, I'll burn my money first.
