Who builds Cabela's brand tractors?

Interesting. I hope it stays that way, I am always wanting the local dealer who knows their merchandise to stay in business. I was in Home Depot today and had to ask three people where their clear visqueen was. The first two did not know what visqueen was. Cabelas won't be any different and the turnover is so high if they did get someone that knew about tractors.

That happened to me before too ... I think they refer to it as plastic sheeting now right?

It hasn't been sold in the U.S. under that brand name for about 15 years, so that may be why they don't recognize the name. They just call it polyethylene sheeting now, and the local Lowes employees knew exactly what I was asking for when I needed it a couple of months ago. There were two employees talking when I walked up, and they both immediately said what isle it was in, so I doubt it was a coincidence.

Around here, where jobs are scarce, the local Cabelas doesn't seem to have a high turnover rate, but I still doubt any/many folks there know much about tractors.

Thanks! I'm really happy it found a home here :drink:

Hey fellas Great topic. I own a TYM. Bought it from a local dealer. These tractors are built like tanks and perform like one too. I own the T433 the 43 horsepower diesel. Its a Caterpillar 2.2 / perkins 404D diesel engine. Cat. Bought perkins years ago. The good thing is all of the filters can be bought at NAPA except the transmission filter. Thats a dealer part.
I have owned for 1 year I have put 185 hard hard hours on this tractor. Clearing over 50 acres of land. Brush hog work for over 100 hours backhoe work poping over 100 stumps so far. Diging waterlines for neighbors moving dozens of yards of dirt with ease pushing piles bigger than I imagined. Regrading property and driveway. From a TYM dealer it comes stock with 2 rear remotes 16 forward 16 reverse synchronized gears. Electric Bosch injection pump. Easy to prime after a fuel filter change.
I have operated Kubotas compact tractors skid steers all terain forklifts and all kinds of equipment for a living and this TYM is no joke.
My dealer is awesome answers my calls any time I have a question wich isn't often he gave me his cell phone number so there is no phone tag. So anyone in upstate New York near potsdam or Massena go see Pete at Petes Tractors in potsdamn New york. He has Sold tractors for 20 years has sold TYM's for almost 10 years and has been a heavy equipment mechanic for 30 years and was also a farmer for a long long time.
I did almost a year of research before I bought this tractor. Green is overpriced and lots of foreign parts in the compact line. Didnt like the Local Kubota dealer. Massey Ferguson puts out a great tractor but they use a sleveless Iseki diesel so you can't just rebuild one cylinder. With a good dealer you can't go wrong with a TYM that's for sure.

Can you explain this in a bit more detail?

Getting off topic but do any of you older guys remember when linoleum flooring was called carpet? Old carpenters I worked with called it "carpet".

I was talking to a Bugsy of Mine who runs a large beef operation. More than a 1000 head. He told me that Iseki diesels are run in the Massey tractors. Inside an industrial engine the cylinder bore is inside a cast Iron sleeve. So if there is a problem with the motor weather a piston melted or broke or something scared the cylinder. The individual siege can be removed from the engine and replaced this would be called an In frame overhaul because they do not have to pull the engine and send it out for Machining. It was designed for shorter down time and less labour involved.

Ok, I understand. Is it confirmed that Iseki diesels are "sleeve-less" and the rest of the tractor-engines we see now-a-days are "sleeved" ???

I can't say that all of them are but I could comfortably say 90% of them. They are industrial engines used in a lot of different types of equipment. In the 40 horse range they would be used in small skidsteers and mini excavators. Water pumps generators mobile air compressors. Its nothing to wory about. Really unless you are looking to get more than 7000 hours out of your machine. Then when it comes time to rebuild you just need to pull the motor and do the machine work. Just means you need to trailer your machine to a mechanic its just boils down to convienience I guess.
The reason I didn't buy some other machines was because of the chinese diadong diesels run in some of them. Like Kioti. Heard a lot of good things about them. But my friend who I mentioned above his is broke all the time its a 55 hp machine It sit in his yard for the most part because he doesn't have the time to loose in the field. For the record his machine only has 3000 hours on it but I believe it was 12 years old when they were a realitivly new brand and machine.
