One side of my oil pan is seeping out of the drain bolt. Is there a certain type of washer to use along with the bolt? The leak is very slow so I think it's just a problem with the washer. I have a Kioti CK 35 2008. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Pull the bolt out and make a new gasket out of card stock. IF you don't have any card stock, then one of those file folder thingys will work as well. An old business card will work as well.

Most good auto parts stores will have a selection of copper crush washers to match your drain plug.
When I can't find mine I make one from some 3/32 PVC sheet that I have on hand but do prefer the copper crush washers.

One other thing, I don't know about the CK series but my DK pan is aluminum. So don't tighten it too much or you will be sorry. Don't tighten it too little or you will be sorry too. But the bolt is steel, and the pan is aluminum threaded, so act accordingly.

I was in the hardware (nuts & bolts) section of Ace Hardware just the other day and discovered they have trays of various vehicle and equipment drain plugs and washers. Next oil change, I'll bring in mine to match them and get spares to have on hand.

Thanks, I'll try one of the solutions here. Thank God it's nothing serious.

No, it is not serious. Reminds me of something I read on an aerosol can label last year.

I was in a tire shop having some work done and was browsing some products on display just to pass the time. On one can of wheel cleaner the label said something to the effect that if the stains remain on the wheels, "seek professional help".

Luckily, you can handle this one on your own.

A place like Advance Auto will have small packs of assorted drain plug washers, usually on a floor display aisle. I try and keep one or two packs of those around, I've always got something around they can be used on, and saves making a drive just for a 20cent washer when you take something apart and find that the washer is past it's due date....

Well I haven't had any trouble yet, but if you got "jiggy" with the wrench, you sure could.
