Who builds Cabela's brand tractors?

This is not a new development.

Back in the early 80's I set about to rebuild an engine in a garden tractor. By the time I got done with parts and machine work, it was cost prohibitive. The only labor involved was the machine work as I was doing everything else.

I cobbled a refresh and got a couple more years out of it and then basically gave it away.

You send your old engine back and they rebuild it.

I had a customer that needed an engine for his truck. A drop in engine from the dealer was less than what parts and the machine shop work would have cost.

And all the while wonder just why 'merca can't make or fix anything anymore. Where did all those jobs go....you know, the ones that actually worked with machines, knew how to run a line hone or......

Eh screw it. 'mericans don't want those jobs anymore, everyone is to go to college and make tons of money while there are no electricians, mechanics, plumbers......the people that actually make something in this country are look down upon, I guess I am old but I miss the days of actually fixing things, doing it yourself....popping down to the dealer buying a new engine and putting it in does not make you a mechanic, it makes you a parts swapper.

Yea I know it costs less, and all that BS....they have made it that way. At one time it did not cost less to keep something, they don't want you to keep it, they want you to consume....keep the credit flowing....keep buying.

Eh, in a bad mood this morning.....watch this.

The N series were not really tractors, more like toys, garden tractor and home built go karts. Ford didn't build a real tractor until they started installing drawbars from the factory, live pto and live hydraulics.

As far as Henry Ford was concerned, the 9N was designed primarily as a plowing tractor. He had
spent too much time plowing behind horses as a youngster. Every thing else was gravy. The gearing
was great for plowing, The gearing was not so good on the 8N. That is why they had problems with
the 2nd gear in the transmission. 800.000 or so Ford N series tractors is not anything to sneeze
at. Many farms were N series farms...''
Also, for what was an innovative idea, Look at what all the other manufacturers
did as soon as the patent ran out. Put in the 3 pt. hitch..

Being a type A personality, wanting to control every part, being ruthless, and not stopping at any obstacle made him a successful business man.

He knew how to get what he wanted, and what buttons he needed to push to get them, and if the continue pushing of those buttons killed his own son, oh well.

Like all business men of his ilk, he was a jerk (I had other words I wanted to use, but they would get stared out)
