Hi Todd,
Did you make the forks on your bucket? They look ideal for holding a log for cutting. I'm going to have to make some, too. I like the idea of not having to bend over too far to cut firewood. What is the small white building behind the tractor? Unusual design, but suitable for Vermont. I like the steep roof.

Ok, roll it onto a 4X8 sheet of plywood, or roofing tin, and slide the sucker out,
then, beat the he!! out of it, burn it, and go have a beer.

I was thinking about a old car hood but I don't have one. I have on old broken blade and I though about the moldboard on it but I would have to cut it off. I don't have any plywood or tin either. I really don't think the tractor is going to drag the stump up that hill. This area is always wet. When I was trying to extract the stump it was all the tractor wanted to do just to back up the hill, it is a little steep but very slick. I have a 5000lb winch, I don't know if it would drag it. I also have a old 4x4 truck with a mini spool. I could put a load of green wood on it and try to pull it.

I bolted some channel iron to the to the back of the bucket and one to the bottom, the steel I had had a tab with a hole in it ,so I just had to bend it a little to fit the back of the bucket. I cut them to so they stick out 16" past the cutting edge. They work fine for picking up logs, not that great for brush.
The building was here when we moved in. The pervious owner was a builder, and stored building material above. He said that he was only taxed on the foundation size, so built it larger above. I tell people it was a photo mat booth

The roof project didn't take as long as I thought it would, so I was able to clear another section of trail this afternoon and cut down a steep incline to a more easily navigable rise.

So did you figure out the problem? I have a similar problem and I was wondering if my gravel dry well at the bottom wasn't draining or something.

Yes, the symptom was a split about 3' long above ground in the galvanized pipe. The problem was that the hydrant was installed with no gravel around the drain at the bottom, clay was packed around it, so the water had no place to drain. Its surprising that it had not frozen in prior years. Its got gravel around it now

One of the nicer days we have had in a while. Made some firewood. Since I made the trailer hitch for the winch I can get everything out to the landing in one trip.
