No you picky people - first of all it's a handy thing to have and can be used to transfer other fluids. It's got a small tube that fits DOWN the dipstick. Does the TC35 have a NON-standard dipstick?
I used one when the "VW trained with 10 years experience" dips$%^t at the local garage overfilled my VW TDI oil by about 3/4 liter. Thus I didn't have to drop the "skid plate" and slide under the VW.
"Loosen the drain plug" usually results in a mess. The only mess from the siphon was wrapping up the tube in a paper towel afterwards.

I was pointing out a 4th inexpensive relatively CLEAN alternative. Even better would be an oil vac, but they cost $$.
