you don't have a power steering box do you?

no this box is the original manual box the only thing i know of thatis different is the left side pitment arm, and the worm gear , the reason for the box repair is because the worm gear broke , ( by broke , i meen the shaft twisted in half) so i bought a replacement , and new bearings , races , and seals i thought that a little time spent wile it was appart would be o good thing . and now this has happened , thanks for the help in this matter.

The only thing I can think of is you have the wrong shaft...

i did some checking and yes the shaft is shorter , so now im stuck with it, im thinking about shiming the cups to get the end play i need , thanks everyone for the help.

very likely you got an NAA worm I'm thinking.

the cup in the top could probably be seated out closer.. bottom one requitres a lil more work depending if it has a knockout or not

i finaly found my problem it wasn't the bearings or me it happened to be , the replacement worm gear , i hate it when i get a bad new part , drives me nuts , i finaly bought a used one so now i have to tackel the lift , it dosnen't lift high enuff .

im sure it wasn't the right one i took it back to them they told me i had it too long , and wouldn't warrenty it , so now im looking for a reputiable parts supplyer
