Kubota 1100C RTV versus RTVX

I test drove the RTVX 1100. It seemed to ride pretty good and had nice cab features. I just hate how **** slow it is.


I talked to a guy that has an older Kubota and he said they are pieces of **** and to not get one. He said they are lacking power and that when you get into mud you can't spin the wheels enough to get out?

If you want to go fast DO NOT buy a Kubota. If you want a work horse BUY a Kubota.

They do NOT lack for power/torque like the guy told you. Maybe he meant speed. I have noticed that the A/C in the 1100 cuts the power considerably. They said it would not but it does. Stock ATV tires are all but worthless in deep mud. You will need to upgrade the tires if you're going to play in the mud.

I made the same choice. Between ease of getting in and out of the open 900 or the weather protection of the 1100. I choose the 900. I put the Tools, parts sprayer, chain saw etc in the back and go. I do not get far before stopping to fix fence trim a tree spray weeds. All before I get to where I was going to.
If the weather bad I take the tractor or truck. Good luck with your decision.

I have the ATV tires and have had no problems with traction but I don't do mud bugging in the swamps with it. WS tires are pretty much worthless for traction, about like automobile tire tread. There are some members who use their Kubota on swamp conditions and jack up the frame, put on taller and wider tires just like the high rider trucks. I don't need that and I like the height of the vehicle as it is.

If I had a choice of an old model vs RTVX model, I would take the old model. 3 speed transmission vs 2 would be the deal breaker for me and the old model should be a bit cheaper also.
I am not sure what they mean by extended oil dip stick but it must be an extension that allows checking the oil without raising the bed which would be an OK option if free but I wouldn't pay anything for it. Checking the oil is so infrequent that it isn't any problem to raise the bed, let it set a few minutes and then check it or just raise the bed before lunch and check it when you go back to work.
I don't find any issues that need changing on my 2009 model. Sure it is hard to shift when stopped on a hill, but pressing the brake usually suffices but if not, mine has the pressure release knob that releases all pressure to the HST and it shifts easily then. I have 360 hours on mine and not one issue to date.

While I've never owned the older model of the rtv I would buy the new model again without hesitation. Two speed versus three speed is not an issue since I never had the three speed rtv. I might change my mine if I had the older version. But the new one has done everything I have wanted it to do. I can only compare it to my old 4010 mule. It has a better ride, alot more power and just overall better vehicle. No speed demon but 20 mph down a country road or field is fast enough for me. I don't think I've ever driven over 10-15 mph in a field anyway. I am just not in a hurry as I use to be.

The old ones are junk? Funny. The neighbor uses it to move the wagons around when haying and the horse people love it when clearing trails at the park. The only thing I have had to do to it is replace the valve stems in the wheels. The worksite tires wear like iron just like the dealer said they would.

So defensive over what someone that you don't even know said. Maybe he just got a lemon? Who knows, I do trust his opinion on machinery as he runs tractors a bit bigger than a TC33 for a living :yuck: Don't shoot the messenger.

No matter what vehicle you get, someone is not going to like it. I believe that I will listen to what anyone says and take it with a grain of salt, if you listen close enough you will get something useful out of it (most of the time, there are exceptions to the rule). Bottom line it is your decision on what to purchase and how much you pay for it, as long as you are happy with the deal, it is no one else business. I am satisfied with my RTV X900, someone else might not be, but I paid for it not them.

People can have opinions, but that is all it is "their opinions" not yours. Person who got stuck and doesn't like his, sell it and buy something he likes. No problem to me, he has to use it whatever he buys so he should be satisfied with it.

Well said :thumbsup: Not every machine is built equal either. Like it or not there are lemons. Many people have many different uses and many have different expectations and experience.
